Assuming you have your own car head north into the mountains. Cooler than the beach and some lovely villages to visit. I still remember eating lunch under a giant carob tree outside the Grand Hotel in Platres. It's only about 30 minutes drive. Local maps are readily available.

One of the two towers (asinelli) can be visited with an entrance fee. And booking is required! Tickets are 5 euros for adults, or 3 euros for children under 12, people over 65, university students, school groups, or tours of 20 people or more
