Florence was way out of her league here. Annoying and condescending in my opinion. I think she thought Jim was a dipshit, which obviously he wasn’t.

Holy cow! I didn’t realize the camera was THAT close to his face! And “Ernie”? Come on, get the name right.

OMG, I can't believe it was Jim Varney's last appearence in a movie, I apologize if I couldn't hold back tears, but this man raised lots of generations with his Ernest P. Worrell movies. So, if I had him face to face, I'd tell him; "Thank you Jim for making everyone's childhood" R.I.P..

I thought he was lip syncing Richard Burton’s voice, but it was actually him. I kinda wanted to hear more. He would have made a great Nick Bottom in “A Midsummer’s Night Dream”.

Jim was very gifted with Shakespeare and could quote lines from memory. I would have loved to see him do a Shakespeare role opposite someone like Patrick Stewart anthony Hopkins or Ian McKellen.

I think the key to Jim's success wasn't necessarily the "goofy redneck" angle, it was that you could tell that he was putting his all into the character. In spite of being silly, there was a real heart under the performance which is hard to convey in advertising. We've seen Larry The Cable Guy and Madea kind of burn out because they were just one dimensional gag characters. Ernest got milage because you saw him as someone you might know, exaggerated as it may have been.
