@@Ooilei correct. As West Miao, we are also known as Gejia. The Hmub called West Miao as Gedou which the Gejia is also known as Gedou.

@@niamtxiv I wouldn't say all the western Miao are called Gejia, I feel Gejia and the term Gedou is very specific, because normally most Miao groups, including the Hmub, just call each other what they call themselves. Seen Hmub call western Miao Hmub, seen Hmongb call eastern Miao Hmongb, seen eastern Miao call central Miao Xongb, etc. But the Gejia are different, they reject all of us, even western Miao, because they want to only be Gejia. Because even Yang Geli called western Miao Hmeb, but I never heard him call Gejia Hmeb. I'm not saying the Gejia aren't Miao/Hmong, I just understand they don't want to be, even though they are

@@Ooilei , traditionally, they do call West Miao as Gedou in their dialect. It's on WeChat. Lol they called She people as Gedou but with another word add onto it. The Gejia, although preferring to be a separate ethnic group is still part of Miao Nationality. It has a lot to do with history.

Hmong Ywb Koob Birthday 2024

We called these as tsho laus (ancient clothes) or tsho tshaj sab which means long robes. Our ancestors wore this until recently. We still give these to our dead. The ancient started burying the good clothes for the dead and started wearing commoner clothes instead.

@@niamtxiv Hi, I'm Hmong. I study ancient clothing from the spiritual point of view, not just Hmong, but Chinese Japanese and other ethnicities as well. There are some missing gaps I can't quite understand regarding our people. Spiritually, I don't get the feel that our "current" traditional Hmong clothes look like what they used to. I feel like Hmong's original clothes look more hanfu-like. What the heck happened in between to now? Are you able to offer me your perspective?

​@niamtxiv Yes, these Hmong robes or ntsoos tsho laus are still being worn by the traditional deceased elders. I've seen some for the Christian believers, too, in all white. You can buy some of the Hmong style in Fresno. Saw a bunch. Nice looking designs too.
