Hi. I've just come across your videos while looking for Stamp play alongs. Your lessons are very helpful. This instruction on bending is quite different from others and I'll give it a try. Can you comment on the actual mechanisms you use to create the bend? Lower lip pout? Embouchure flexing forward? Tongue? Thanks.

Hello good sir, I'm having a hard time sustaining the same sound going from to high and from high to low and back. I have to assume that doing these excersises will help me find consistentcy.

Your approach is an original one. The player can be the constant factor. Mmmm. I Will give it Some attention. Your fast switching keeps North instrument warm. Same mouthpuece @trombahonker? For me the sound impacts directory my stearing the instrument, both lips and air support. I need at least 6 counts when switching before a ‘solo’ fragment. Back to the trumpet is not what needed attention last week. Maybe my love is switching from the trumpet to the flugel. …..

Very good vid. Thank you. You make a strong point that the instrument you play shouldn’t dictate the technique you use to play it.

You set up your embouchure before you you play a note. Exactly the same way every time. I am still figuring mine out.....as a beginner. Thanks for these videos.

Wow! Playing through with you and on Exercise 5. Playing B and C above staff much more clearly, calmly. I bought the stamps warm up book a long time ago but am only now getting in to it with your fine online example. I'm a 50 year retread; quit playing in high school, 1972 ,and picked it up again a year ago to participate in a local New Horizons band. Subscribed and bookmarked. Your youtube channel is a great service. Thank you for the sacrifice and effort to help students like myself!

WOW! Just found this - really cool. I'm 67 years old and just started playing my horn again one year ago. Quit band in 1972. Now I'm retired and joined a "New Horizon" band in town. I'm a youngster there! Also part of a quintet. I got a LOT of catching up to do. Was looking for Shlossberg examples on the internet and found this. Spectacular. Request: Can you do the same for Clarke, Claude Gordon, Victor V. Salvo, Getchell, and Cichowicz please? :)

I just purchased my first flugelhorn. I came across your video because I wanted to learn. great video! My question is can you push the gas on the flugelhorn, or you should always play on the softer side?

If im following a heavy and light day routine and smith says to play it every day. Do i follow that or do it on heavy days.

Follow your gut, if you're tired or feel a bit run down, choose something easier. Maybe play the scales quietly, or go down a step or two, or just play some nice smooth irons flexibilities as ppp.

Great informative and useful video!! just out of curiosity is the exercise at 2:00 a know/specific exercise? Or did you just improvise? Many thanks!

The lip buzz is SUPPOSED to be an octave below the mouthpiece buzz, so you’re doing the exercises absolutely correctly. According to Mr. Stamp, if the lip buzz produces the same notes as the mouthpiece buzz, there is excess tension in the lips.

Man, I’m loving this! Thank you so much for doing this routine. I don’t get to play as much as I would like with my new job. The time I do have, I love being able to trade exercises back and forth to get my endurance up. Thanks again. 😊

Hi, what do you think about the 4 valve Flugelhorn? advantages and disadvantages? any issues for first time learners? We received one as a gift but not too sure if it's more difficult or a lot more different that the regular 3 valve Flugelhorn. Any advice will be appreciated.
