Let's look at the other side: 1 Corinthians 14:2,14,18 [2]For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for NO ONE UNDERSTANDS HIM; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. [14]For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, BUT MY UNDERSTANDING IS UNFRUITFUL. [18]I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all; If you compare the above scripture with the one you quoted from the Book of Acts, it shows those in Acts spoke tongues of other languages and tribes mostly which were understood by those hearing them. However, Paul in 1Cor14²,¹⁴ is talking about a language which is a mystery to men but only understood by God and whoever God determines to give the interpretation. Therefore, there is a tongue unto men and one unto God, which we mostly use in prayer and for many you hear spoken in churches. This is because they are praying in mysteries UNTO GOD who understands the mystery being spoken. Paul concluding said in V¹⁸: 1 Corinthians 14:18 [18]I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all; In other words, he spoke in the tongues which cannot be understood my others, i.e. mysteries, more than anyone in the Corinthian church he wrote the letter to.

@@chariotsoffire5783 Thanks for that.I hope & pray that toungues spoken in churches can also be understood by foreigners sitting in the congregation asking questions, while at the same time the Holy Spirit communicate with toungues in their own language.
