Studio one and two cinema in Oxford street (8:57) in background. I grew up in the west end and loved this cinema which always showed Disney produced films. Lyon’s corner house was everywhere and one could get good cheap food. Lots of shopping in Carnaby street too when I later was a teenager. First job was for a company in Oxford Circus. Brings back many happy memories. Thanks for making and posting.

Hi, I'm glad that you enjoyed my home movie, great times, for some reason I never went to Studio one and two, I believe that the screen was back projected! I'm now retired in France, where do you live now?

We visited the city in July of 1965. Went to the World's Fair, the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and took the Circle Line around Manhattan. July 21 was a red-letter date in my life becaue I rode on the subway for the first time, starting a lifelong love affair with that subway system. We moved from Indiana to New Jersey two years later and I became immersed in the subways.

@@mackenzierough Yeah, I'm just a 30-year-old, but these videos are so cool to watch. The Dirty Streets and People are reminiscent of the UK & US in the early 1900s. Despite Sri Lanka's clean outer appearance at present, many people here are still poor and vote for corrupt politicians. This small island is now in $100 billion debt. Meanwhile, the EU and North America have also deteriorated due to bad financial practices and mass immigration. I wonder what the future holds for humankind.

TBH nothing much has changed, just high rise buildings, newer cars, marginally sanitation improvements. Politicians was and still be stealing from the middle and poor giving it to their higher class friends who keep them in power. The tight grip religious leaders got on people is also gotten worst. That's why Sri Lanka was and is still a breeding ground for religious corruption with space for new radical religions like Jehovah and Jerome's begin. People are way too blind and has so much faith in religion. Forget culture, religion and history. Work towards improving oneself. Think over everything. But that's too much to ask from a Sri Lankan.

In those days the music was normally composed for each commercial, not just ripping off songs like they do today, there used to be many companies that provided this service, all gone now!

A reminder of less anodyne days when things were a bit grubby but it was ok to be. When we still had a sense of humour before the modern 'fetish' of taking offence robbing of us of the ability to say what we really think. Days when nobody 'identified as' anything other than a human and faced the troubles of life as it happened without looking for someone to blame. Just because the world has moved on does not mean it has progressed. I visited Blackpool two years after this film was shot, rode the monster, endured rain lashed, rattling hotel windows, enjoyed it for what it was but knowing I didn't ever need to return. Everyone should visit Blackpool at least one in their lives, it's a rite of passage. Love it or loath it Blackpool doesn't care it just goes on doing what it does best, being utterly Blackpool, utterly shamelessly. Long may it thrive.
