FYI to everyone watching this. If you side with Dr. Horrible in this song or at any point of the movie you will never find someone that cares about you.

This moment is an absolute favourite, and learning Gary Burgoff can actually play drums makes it even more awesome as others said you can see him really getting into it really in the zone and it’s absolutely beautiful!

Name a movie with great songs whose soundtrack was never released and wtf, fix this now! I'll start: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, I demand a vinyl release! STAT! I'd settle for a 45 single of Neil Patrick Harris's single, Brand New Day.

Given the fact this was made due to a writers strike and the cast said they'd do a sequel, I thought we'd get one with this writers strike. The creators even said "it'll take another writers strike to make a sequel"

I think the greatest irony in this is that if Billy actually saw Penny as a person he could have easily gotten her. The reason she fell for Captain Hammer is because he was able to progress causes she cared about. This is something that Dr Horrible missed. Instead thinking that she wanted wealth and status when pretty much showing in every scene that was the opposite of what she wanted. Instead just use the inventions to help the homeless. Hell you can even keep the supervillain stiche threaten the Major to build homeless shelters or something. Captain Hammer is going to look really shitty if he stops you then

So a thing about it is she's not an object to be won or gained. But the movie sure thinks she is. Laundry day is such a creepy song.
@thebobbrom71767 ай бұрын
@@dynomar11 I think in isolation it's ok When I was a teen and kind of awkward around girls my relationship with my crush honestly was a lot like that song The issue is that it's called on. He doesn't get to know her as a person; he doesn't even really seem interested in her as a person. The issue isn't the song itself it's that the narrative seems to see women in the same way

1:59 - It's brilliant the way this second verse combines the two vocal lines and it still works, even though they're singing in two different keys! (B minor & D major)
@cellobeetle1239 ай бұрын
I know, right? B minor and D major are relatives so they have the same key signature, just different tonics.

I like how she forshadows their duet/harmony with "some kind of harmony is on the rise.." next verse they're harmonizing.
@ariaflame-au11 ай бұрын
I quite like the juxtaposition of the word rise, but the falling pitch.
@hux200010 ай бұрын
It works because his vocal is in B minor and hers is in D major, and both scales use the same notes. So they can sing in harmony while it still feels like they're disconnected, which is perfect for what the song is telling us about their relationship to each other.

It feels like the two characters are trying to connect with eachother but just keep losing connection or something idk maybe sideways could talk about it it's really cool but also fuck joss whedon

All of this. Yes.
@hux200010 ай бұрын
It does the same thing musically, too: in the second verse, he's singing in B minor and she's singing in D major. Both of those keys share the same notes so, as you say, it's like they're almost connected but not quite. Also, yes to the last part.
@nofoodbeforebed Жыл бұрын
the end where they're slightly out of sync works so well for some reason
@hux200010 ай бұрын
Musically, that's the best part. His vocals aren't modified to fit hers at all, nor vice versa. They're singing in two different keys (B minor & D major) exactly the same way they did in the previous verses, but it works because those keys share the exact same notes.
