However labour was too expensive and the forest has since been used for recreation.(jogging track, campsite exists since 1959)So the coin would pre-date that

In Europe, it's good to know who was on that land for 2000 or more years, while where I live, in Arizona, my town has not even been here for 50 years! Thanks for responding. hehe well i wish it was a roman coin lol.The recreation areas are mostly Euros and sometimes jewelry. I need to get on farmland, but most of it is completely soaked at the moment. Some farmlands even have about 10-15 CM of water on it

Tja, klinkt heel bekend. heb ook wel op festival terrein gezocht (Spaarnwoude) het was niet te doen, bij elke swing van de detector 4-5 signalen, en echt allemaal Flugel dopjes. enige manier om er een muntje uit te pikken is echt alleen op de VDI van bijv. 1 Euro en 50 cent te graven, dan heb je nog 50% kans

now that would be something hehe. We have some official Roman archeological sites around in our Provice of North Holland, but most Roman stuff is below the river Rhine.

@@MartijnTijmsMetaldetecting My friend Sjakie, who is very proud of his Dutch heritage, told me that the ancient Dutch tribes resisted the Roman invasion of their lands. As a result, there are not as many Roman artifacts to be found in NL as there are in France or England. I would be almost as pleased to see you unearth a few ducats someday.

@@bombthechaos3916 Well i can actually see one site from my backyard where a roman harbor fort used to be. They found 2 of them next to each other when digging for tunnels for highways. They found evidence of battle too, in the form of sling lead, the experts think they ran out of ammo, and made new sling lead by pressing their fingers into the ground and pouring hot lead into that hole, so the sling lead has a fingertip form.

@@MartijnTijmsMetaldetecting Wow! I admire the Romans. I envy you guys who live on the same land that they once did. Years ago, when I was in the military, I was with some guys setting up a microwave dish on a hill that was on the Roman frontier in Germany. Looking at the ground, I realized that we were on top of some ruins buried in the ground. I recognized the brickwork as being Roman. Looking back, I can't believe that I didn't do a little digging around and steal a souvenir!

@@bombthechaos3916 now you will wonder forever what is there under the ground hehe. I have that with certain fields I pass by, just keep wondering what is there. And then try to get permission there. It worked out brilliantly for one field, found a lot of 1500's stuff there. Then the ownership changed and it was no longer possible to search there. Every time i pass that field, i wonder what i left there.

yes nothing wrong with modern money! I try to mix is somewhat with farmland for old coins, but permissions are hard to get around here

Hi, well we had about the same here, stories of that nazi gold hidden near the town of Ommeren, which is close to Nijmegen/Arnhem. A few weeks ago a treasure map was published from previously secret archives. And it brought a storm of detectorists there. Shame its one of the townships were detecting is forbidden lol. And yes, the exploring can be nice too!

Well the farm fields tend to be full of coins in our country. Several factors contribute to that: 1 after harvests the crew was paid in cash on the land. 2: city waste was diposited on farmlands as fertilizer, including any coins in that waste. In some areas turf was won, the places where they removed that turf was filled up with waste also.

Hoi Rene, ja dat klopt, die dingen kunnen echt hetzelfde signaal afgeven als alle Euromunten die we hebben helaas. Het enig wat ik er ooit aan heb kunnen doen is echt op 1 signaal, bijvoorbeeld 75 (20 cent en 1 Euro voor AT Pro) graven en dan hopen dat het muntjes zijn.
