He was NOT paying homage to Charles hale. The message went way above your head. It's the meaning of cake walk and darktown that he's referencing along with the tune which was used during "catwalks. And the visuals. Google is your friend, so do some research.

Came to this after the Not Like Us music video dropped because I wondered why tf we all knocked like this when we were little. The Dan LeBatard Show like 3 weeks ago had old man Greg Cote of the Miami Herald talk about "Shave And A Haircut... 2 Bits." So that was my starting point. From there I found a What Is Music? video about it. That gave me the original name of this song. Here I am 2:50 into the song as I type this. Shoutout to Kendrick Lamar lmao
