@@something1351 Yeah, maybe has to do with how serious they take football. We never did scales, that's just a terrible way to judge skill. We always had 3 pieces, usually 1 very tough, and the tryouts were in a tiny classroom with judges behind a sheet. I always got so nervous not a single note would come out, though I was always first chair. It was so embarrassing being section leader and never placing at any of the competitions!
