I’m not gonna lie. I think this movie kind of sucks BUT. as someone who was in denial about being gay for a really long time, it still manages to make me cry lol. like. just to have anything recognize how hard it is to grow up in a hostile environment and to be so terrified of being who you are makes me feel so damn seen. I was never put in conversion therapy, but I almost sort of did my own by making myself date men and I really hurt myself doing things I didnt want to do. its no coincidence that i decided to watch this when i was starting to admit to myself what i was. i appreciate that this movie means so much to our community and thats good enough for me.

@@MangoMakesMoney it was just kinda corny to me, nothing really serious. I get it was meant to be campy and stuff and I guess the particular flavor of campy didnt really work for me. like I said though, it was still important to my coming out journey

@@darkacadpresenceinblood I totally agree! art is subjective. not all of it is going to resonate with all of us all the time. I certainly like some weird and niche stuff that would not do it for most people. but art is the most human thing and it is a shame that people get so weird about what they like or dont like. imagine if everybody made the same stuff and liked the same stuff. art would get so boring so fast. plus like I said… anything that is special to my community is special to me.
