Hardly belt and braces as you put it Not sealing the bottom or edges of that ply to haunt someone else later , you can talk about messages in bottles but fibreglass isn't a plastic bottle .

Every edge of each board is completely sealed, there'll be no issues for anyone I the future. The principal is exactly the same it's a sealed container unless you introduce moisture it can't create its own.

Hi mate Yer quality job mate . Love the content, it don't matter how much it cost. As you can do as you please for what fits your needs, in comparison it's cheaper than a new boat. All the costings are negligible as you got what you want and strong and lighter than before. condensation it needs moisture, oxygen, its air tight I believe. Back in the 80s 90s as a small fast boat. In shore boat these where a good all round fishing boat, family day boat they just slapped a bit in a close sea. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🍻

Thanks, im glad you enjoyed watching, exactly it would be nice to have a new boat, but they're well out of my reach and thud way I'm able to make it how I want it. They're a good, stable fishing platform, so perfect for the family 👍

Surely you will get condensation in compartments. Cold sea ,warm day.
@LoCalFIshing_
@LoCalFIshing_ 14 күн бұрын
Only from the air trapped in each compartment which will be negligible and its all completely sealed so shouldn't be any issues. If you took an empty bottle an put a paper note in it sealed it up and threw it in the sea it could travel around the world and the note would still be dry.

Amazing job, what's your estimated cost in materials up to this point and how many man hours roughly? Great work👍

It's difficult to say as I haven't really kept track of it but all the fiberglass etc is probably £5-600 and then a sheet of marine ply costs me around £70, I'll try and work it out as accurately as I can and pop it in one of the videos 👍

Hi, been keeping a close eye on your wilson flyer floor and transom rebuild, I may have to tackle this in the near future, what is you estimated cost in materials and how many hours labour up to the point of laying the second layer of glass on the floor?

I'd be done by now if it wasn't for the weather. If you've not got anywhere under cover, it might be worth investing in a temporary garage to get it done.

Hi mate I see you struggling with the insulation board. With a sharp edge to scribe in why didn't you use a fine tip marker pen. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿😃🍻

Hi mate, I didn't have one in the house. i had tried one of my sons felt tips, but it was rubbing off so went with the sharp edge 👍

Going to be doing this to my Wilson flyer this year, do you have a list of all the materials needed? Thanks!

You'll need, marine ply to suit your required thickness I used 2x 18mm cut from 1 full sheet and 1x 12mm, polyester resin with hardener I mixed at 2%, 450gsm chop strand, dual weave, colloidal silica, loose chop strands and some screws. I'm doing the whole boat so have bought everything in large quantities. Good luck 👍

Nice job. I'm about to replace the stringers on my boat. Did the resin react with the celotex and did you seal the ply capping on both faces?
@LoCalFIshing_
@LoCalFIshing_ Ай бұрын
Thanks, there wasn't any reaction with the celotex. I did a test first on a piece before committing to all of it. I didn't seal the underside of the ply topper as it shouldn't ever get wet and is only there to aid in screwing the floor down until the sealant sets. The fibreglass layup becomes the strength 👍

great job your doing, I've done this twice, and must be stupid as I've got another one on my drive to start asap, good luck, will keep watching, interested in time to finish and final cost, as the last one I finished was about ten years ago. it took 5 years to complete and cost about £60,000 to finish.
