Glad I found this channel. No one in the longboard 🛹 community talks about Kahuna Creations boards. I bought th Kahuna Creations Shaka Stealth. I was worried the brand might be bad since no one really reviews them. I had no idea 🤷‍♂️ they didn’t review them because; it’s a whole different style of boarding called surf-skate.

It's a big thing to realize when we fucked up a little, and to make recompense. Very cool being positive. I try to only give positive reinforcement unlesss there is something unsafe or of poor quality/value.

have you tried Grasp trucks? They are awesome steve. would love to see a review on what you think. I feel they have the stability of a cx and the forward momentum of a yow meraki. If meraki and cx had a baby, that would be it!! Also very versatile in the skatepark.

Hello Steve!! I'm a newbie too. I bought the CARVER 31.25" KNOX PHOENIX CX a few days ago and it arrived yesterday. I was impatient to try it, but the front mechanism is very rigid (it is impossible to turn it with my hand) and my rear wheels stopped within 3-4 seconds. There is also the squeaking sound you mentioned. I don't know if it is for this reason, I tried pumping while driving but it doesn't accelerate!! This video is perfect for me. I will try the steps here and try again. I hope the reason why I cannot accelerate is due to missing adjustments. 😊 I have benefited a lot from your videos throughout this process. Especially the technical information and charts you provided while choosing my surfskate were amazing. I'm grateful. 🙏

Wish there was an event like that near me. Looks super fun! I’ve got a couple of longboards and a cruiser board…but it wasn’t until I got my Carver Proteus C7 surfskate that I found the absolute pinnacle of fun on a board! Surfskating is where it’s at!!! 😎👍

Tell your buddy to predrill a couple more wheelbases and I think it will be an easy sell. Nobody likes having to modify a $200 deck.

If only it were so easy 🤣. Agreed. I would love to see Krooked make surfskate decks. They’ve basically done it with this, sans larger WB options.

Steve, I can't wait to here what you think about the Globe surfskates. The made a run about 5 years with a different truck that didn't get any fanfare, but they now make a magnesium hollow-axle C7 clone. It looks very promising and high value. There's one called the Costa that has a very flexy deck and gets a 21" wheelbase into a 31" board. Thanks for everything. I've got three packs of Sufskate Love wheels coming in next Tuesday from Status.

I gave the Ovni Andromeda trucks a try, I quite like them but there are definitely some quirks. First, buying them you have to email and paypal the owner in Brazil? I found that a bit sketchy... Quality is not up to Yow/Carver level, but seems to be holding up fine so far. And I could care less for the rear trucks. All that aside - if you throw a ("waterborne style") rail/lean adapter under the rear truck, you get one of the most surfy and tuneable setups available. The front truck is so loose that playing with bushings in the rear gives a huge range of how it rides/carves - it is the only setup I have where you can tune the board for lots of lean with a wider radius turn, making it my favourite setup for carving at higher speeds. It is probably the closest feel I can get to powder snowboarding - where you have enough lean at speed that you can carve with your weight straight through your feet instead of pressuring one edge of the deck.

I wanna see a review on the new Smoothstar dolphin cruiser. Online Smoothstar claims it is very fast. Interested to see as I recently bought a Felipe pro 32.5 with Thruster D trucks and fell in love with it, although it is not setup for cruising. Smoothstar claims online the 37" dolphin crosses into the cruising element.

I have the new version of the Yow Pukas. It's my first board (I'm a beginner). I've been using it for about a month now and love it. The only bad thing about it is that I might be too short for it. I'm only 160 cm tall and I can't stand on the tail permanently because my legs are too short. So I always switch between standing on the tail when I want to turn with it (to lift it off the ground) and standing where the back bolts are. Still, I feel comfortable on it. I would also like to try carvers, but I want to get more experienced before I get a new board. And then definitely a smaller deck.

@@Acolyte_of_Cthulhu The 34.5 one - I am just 160 cm and my weight is around 54 kilos. So yeah, I am pretty light and small. I still love that board tho. It feels pretty stable, what's good for a beginner like me. But I doubt that I will be able to use it to its full potential.

I think with long boards, you have to carve more and add kickturns. Surfskates don't need those as much since you can carve more easily. I'd still learn to kickturn on surfskates if there is little space for carving.

There must be a way to redesign the trucks so that there’s less stack height. Surely, the levers and springs could be mounted, flat on the underside of the board (no shortage of space). What if the wheels on each side of the board could be interconnected? The same amount of turn, but without an exaggerated vertical movement Or would that defeat the purpose (like carving a wave)? Fascinating😊😊😊

No no no don’t put any grease on your bushings. It will eat away at them and they will lose there rebound.
@0nemoa
@0nemoa 15 күн бұрын
Actually, they recommend lithium grease not marine grease . Also for the bearings you do absolutely want to use the lithium grease not that speed crap it’ll literally dry up the first time it gets wet even if it doesn’t it will before you have to take the truck apart again. For those kind of parts that are not easily accessible you want to use grease. Now for your wheel bearings sure that speed cream crap is fine but in the actual truck use grease lithium grease.

Hello, sorry for stupid question, but I’m really new to boarding, but I look it for alternative against bike (I move to different countrie where you can’t take bike in train) so I looking for stuff what I can hang on my backpack, I like cruiser 30 inch. Style but then I go to shop, I get confused about long to surf board, what I should get to start riding, what firm I should look to buy (looking for like middle firm not to good but not to bad). it’s better get surf? but how it’s good for beginner who never ride on board? So if you can say some advice, brand name, type what I should take (cruise or surf) it’s little help to decide, thanks!

Definitely. This wheelbase is an easy mod for anything between 16 and 18 inches. You can go past 18. But you’ll need to consider angled risers beyond an 18 inch WB.
