If you want good power systems you should check out the Toaru series. It has two of the best/unique systems out of every anime I've seen, whether it be the esper powers inspired by quantum mechanics and real life science, or magic inspired by real religion, religious figures, and even some fairy tales. I also love how this series takes some stereotypical abilities and expands upon them, like an electricity user not just being able to create and manipulate it, but also being able to use it to manipulate magnetism, manipulate different types of waves, and control different types of machines.

You can say all you want but I feel there is a lot of misconceptions about Mikasa’s character. She is not only a strong soldier in the Survey Corps. But a strong woman that is motivated by the people she loves. She has stick to that motivation consistently and did everything in her power to make sure her goals stay alive until she has to face the unfortunate reality that Mikasa is gonna have to betray her goals and motivation for the greater good. Her only regret I honestly believe is her not telling Eren her true feelings in the final season of Attack on Titan when she is so fixated on her role as his protector (as she promised his mother Carla asked her in Season 1).

mikasa's character conclusion allows us to see love in a nuanced way just because you love someone, doesn't mean you have to follow everything they do, but just because the person you love has changed doesn't mean that you don't deserve to mourn the person they used to be. mikasa CHOOSES to oppose eren and fights for what she believes in, but that doesn't mean that she should hate him now. i dont know why people want mikasa's love for eren to be shown in negative light so bad, her love for him shows how love can be something poetically beautiful and how it can also lead to self sabotage or vulnerability. the moment mikasa wraps the scarf around herself before killing eren it's symbolic of where love should lie in our lives. rather than something that holds us back from being who we are, it should be something that helps us find who we are, mikasa's pride, her inner and outer strength and her deep belief that, in her own words "life is a miracle" are what make her character, and it's a shame that people trivialize and belittle her character arc just because they trivialize themes of love in general. anyways i could talk about her for hours, and she's definitely the most well written female character in the show and i can explain in detail why and what makes her so incredible.

Honestly, bleachs power system really is sick. The story tellings low key shit, and the shows is absolutely flooded with issues and inconsistancies. But all that said, it's still one of the systems I refer to the most often because it was so insanely cool. I honestly haven't seen to this day any other anime that did the idea of your weapon being it's own being as well as bleach did. "I think where bleach fell apart the most for me was trying to introduce so many other systems as well at the same time."

You should check out Undead Unluck's power system, it's based on negating concepts of the world be it something simple like moving or more complex like a sense of justice. It allows for fights similar to that of JoJo or HxH where you gotta figure out how your opponent's ability works to get the upper hand and it integrates into the worldbuilding and plot really well.

Not a shabby list but my number 1 power system will probably always be the toaru universe. Whether it be a certain magical index, or a certain scientific railgun/accelerator.

Not putting JJK is somewhat okay to me because you put HXH on nr 1, and jjk and hxh have great similarities, so I’m not mad. BUT!!! I think a better contender for 10 place is Pokémon, since everyone and their moma loves it and still forgets about it, there are so many different evolutions, elements that each are strong against another and still weak against another, it’s iconic and very big… Kind of sad to not see it live up to the legendary status it had…

Worse character for me, in someways, is Armin. Specifically because season 4, his character has a weird...un-develeopment? Season 1-3 Armin is fully on board the "Abandon your humanity to succeed" train and making ruthless decisions to survive and win. Than Season 4, he's suddenly acting like he wants to become a pacifist and that their enemies can be reasoned with, despite everything they learned saying the opposite. I honestly don't get why he and others thought peace would be an option with Marley.

I'd never seen the og film so i watched both it and the series in the same day. I remember liking the film but being blown away by series. What you said about there being no character development was right, and series fixes this. I got so attached to Ramona and Knives and Wallace and all of them, I cried when it ended. Seeing Ramona have to work through all the issues with her exes and reckoning with how she wronged them is so satisfying after watching her do basically nothing for an entire movie. I also believed in Ramona + Scott's relationship a lot more in the series.

I completely agree with what you said about the majority of remakes. I find a lot of them really lacking and paling in comparison to the original, which personally, can even leave me with a slight sour taste of the series as a whole. But I feel like 'takes off' really was able to expand and show different sides that we weren’t able to see in 'vs the world' while still staying true to the parts that they did so well in the movie.
