I ❤ my R12 Dagger Rosemary & Co travel brush and a Borciani e Bonazzi Unico 4 Mop. I ❤ the handle on B&B brushes especially. On paints, I put together a 18 set of Maimeri Blu, which are all single pigments. My most fun suppkies are the Caran d'Ache Neocolor II water soluble wax pastels. This was a fun video to watch. You use many materials that are new to me. Grazie, Luigi!

You use a lot of Italian brands and I guess B&B is only now in Italy... Are you Italian? I've never tried pastels, but I am trying to not start new materials now 🙊 gouache is the latest love from last year. How do you use dagger brush? I found it useful only for leaves and flowers
@berolinastrassmann
@berolinastrassmann 19 күн бұрын
@@illustrazionidilut IYes, I have some Italian supplies :-) Neocolor Ii are like watercolours / gouache on a stick. They dissolve completely. I sketch in museums a lot, where wet media is not allowed. Neocolor IIs and a water brush do the trick. I go to 🇮🇹 often and buy stuff there. I also shop from Momarte online for the Italian brands I like, as they deliver to 🇩🇪. Both Maimeri and BB are hard to find here. The R12 dagger brush is very versatile: it paints thin straight lines if you paint on the side, it can do washes and organic shapes like leaves, petals, it also has a super sharp pointy. I can do a lot with just one brush when I paint Plein air, as I try not to bring many supplies with me. I saw it used by Liz Steel in her urban sketches and knew I had to have one. Do you sketch outside a lot?
@illustrazionidilut
@illustrazionidilut 19 күн бұрын
I didn't know it wasn't allowed in museums! Good to know for the future. I'm drawing a lot outside since one year, also in café because I like to draw people being sitting comfortably. Where are you in Germany? I'm living in Munich. Momarte shipping abroad is not cheap right? I prefer to go the shops here in the city
@berolinastrassmann

@@illustrazionidilut I sketched in Museums in Berlin and Frankfurt -neither accept water based media. Not sure what it might be in Munich. Momarte ships internationally for €15 flat. If I get a few things together, it is worth it. I only order Italian materials which are impossible or hard to find here. I also like going to the shops. Sadly, small shops are disappearing. Only big ones like Boesner still remain...but I find them very overwhelming.

Great setup. Small but functional and that's all that matters ;) & I see you did pry the ceramic palette out of the Schmincke box ;) Re lighting - Natural daylight is 5500 - 6500k, so your 4K bulbs are definitely too yellow. I try to look for bulbs that are 5600K + Cri 95+ + Full spectrum. Not easy to find but well worth it and full spectrum is surprisingly relaxing for the eyes as it tricks the eye and brain into believing that you are in natural daylight.

Oh, I guess I have 2 very beautiful Etchr books for the really nice things I try to make. Some 100 percent cottons from Hahnemuhle in different sizes, a few nostalgia from Hahnemuhle in different sizes, and some everyday scetchbooks from Hahnemuhle. For my markers I have a Rodia touch. It is bleeding through. KZfaq lady Lindsay Weirich did vlog about a scetchbookfloozy a few months ago. Since then different KZfaqrs did talk about their scetchbooks and about 35 books isn’t crazy at all. So I think with the seven you have in use at the moment it’s pretty decent.

Great content and lovely art, as always! I have 4 sketchbooks that I'm regularly using. I have one "ugly/experimental" sketchbook for experimenting, doodling, and practising. I use many different mediums in it, which is quite chunky. I have one "pretty" sketchbook to create "pretty" and finished artwork. I basically re-create some of the sketches I draw in my "ugly/experimental" in my pretty sketchbook. I also keep a sketchbook where I draw the characters of a story I've been working on. I design the characters and costumes, draw the maps and settings, and take notes about the story. Lastly, I have a visual journal where I draw how I feel and also write my thoughts about my mood swings, reflections on my experiences, past events, thoughts lingering on my mind, etc. I guess I'm less concerned about how well a sketchbook takes different mediums, and I don't mind paper buckling, even though I enjoy experimenting with gouache, acrylic, and ink. Also, I heavily use graphite pencils and coloured pencils, which are gentle with any paper.

I use it for quick watercolor sketches ( plain air, household interiors, window views etc). The second one is watercolor cotton hahnemule, A5, NOT a big fan of this one, but I always like the end result, so whatever😂. I use that hahnemule sketchbook for watercolor sketches of masterpieces (btw a it's great way to study artists, and their artwork, and art history). Third one I'm actively using is mixed media etcher (same as yours i think), in A4 . I use it for study of future works (watercolor, acrilic), and also if I go through tutorial or something.

I’ll be controversial: I only use one! I have a huge pile of unused sketchbook waiting in line and I always buy new ones whenever they’re on sale or I find something interesting, but I can’t focus on more than one sketchbook at a time. Personally I feel like opening a sketchbook and seeing really old stuff makes me feel like I’m not moving on that much, then there’s my completist soul being happy whenever I can finish a full book, and I really like forgetting about old sketchbooks and going back to peek at them like it’s something brand new made by someone else ahah! I now like to invest in better quality ones that can be multi purpose and go ham with whatever I feel like using at the moment! I HIGHLY recommend the Strathmore mixed media series 500, it’s a 100%cotton and despite being relatively light gsm it takes watercolour and gouache like a champ! So sad that at the moment the price skyrocketed here in Italy but I look forward the next sales to literally stock up. As for the marker sketchbook, I only have experience with the brand Crescent Rendr, but it has the same mechanics of the new ohuhu marker specific sketchbook and even clairefontaine sells its own version of it, can’t remember it it had manga or comic in the name but it’s listed that it’s marker specific and you can use it on both sides. Pick the one that’s cheaper and the easiest accessible in your country! Rendr sells hardcover and softcover perfect bond, Clairefontaine has hardbound perfect/stitch bound and ohuhu is spiral bound or (from my understanding)a marker pad you can tear pages off of. I hope that helps!
@illustrazionidilut

Thanks a lot Connie for the Infos! I want to try Render indeed, I found it in Germany for 17€. Now I am curious about Claire Fontaine one, as well as Strathmore which a lot of people suggest me.
