This game is like a fever dream to me. We played it in primary school when I was about 5. It scared the hell out of me. I was ill and had time off of school. When I went back, I desperately wanted to face my fear of the witch. During lunch break, I snuck in to the classroom and my 5 year old brain tried to boot the bbc cpu up. I killed that cpu outright. They had no idea how to fix what I broke. I guess I killed that witch in the end. Just not the intended way. 😂

Trying to find an equally old beeb educational game, and my only clue is "which came first, the dragon or the egg?". And a puzzle involving dragon's teeth..

incredible to think that back in the day, this game blew our tiny minds. Think I was 10 when we were allowed to use the BBC Micros in our junior school. Circa 1985

One downside is that on a real C64, the loading sounds are much quieter than this, to the point you can't hear them without turning the volume to near max and the music completely drowns them out. Them being heard during the music kinda spoils it a bit.

I don't remember ever hearing my C64 play the tape data out while loading, except for one game: Nightbreed. And that was seriously creepy...
@fattomandeibu
@fattomandeibu 25 күн бұрын
@@batlin It does, but you had to turn the volume on your TV up to max and even then it'd only be very faint.

Just re bought an Atari ST, along with this game as I played it to death between the ages of 9 and 14, this brought it all flooding back. The fact you got more annoyed and sweary as the season went on all seemed eerily familiar 😂Great video, cheers Lemmy! 😁

I honestly thought I was the only one who played this. I believe it was created by a Bulgarian man, who worked with my dad. He gave my dad a free copy to take home for us to play!

We're slowly finding more and more people who played it. Just looked it up, and it looks like it is created by a chap called Zeljko Juric, so that's probably the guy who worked with your dad. Thanks for commenting!

The rules of the game aren't made very clear, even for adults to comprehend. But basically, you can only use the collar on a dragon when exactly *one* dragon is out. If there are two dragons (or more) out, then you can't use the collar on either, even if one of them is already collared. How the food works is: when you throw a type of food, it lures out the dragon that loves it, forces back the dragon that hates it, and does nothing to dragons that "sometimes eat it" (if they're out, they stay out). The only way to achieve the task is to first lure the first dragon by throwing any type of food - and importantly, next, force back the first dragon by throwing the type of food it hates. And so on and so forth.

I remember this at school. Having to wait in a que behind other kids to have a turn. Loved it so much. There was another game where you had to guess a word to make a space shuttle take off, but I just cannot remember it's name and I've been trying to find it with google for years now. Thank you for posting, excellent trip down memory lane!

Hello... I have a problem: I installed GroovyArcade, I'm using a monitor (electrocian), and to connect to the pc I use a jpac... but when I leave a game... the game selection screen is all messed up and the timing light on the jpac goes out. What can it be? I ask friends for patience because I'm using Google translator. Thank you all.

Halifax or Kidderminster. Put a cheat on so all my players were 99. Must of them got called up to national squad but even with that cheat it wasn’t certain you would win in Europe or in the premier league once you get there. Also, a cheat was to play 4-2-4 long ball and training only on fitness. Used to play two player and sell all of one teams best players to the my other team. Happy happy days playing this in my brother in laws shed stealing his home brew. 😂

My friend and I played this as kids in '92 and '93 and I believe we beat it because I just beat it a few times today with the 30 lives and remembered all the stages and bosses when I made it to them. For some reason I believe we had a 30 life code back then using the L and R buttons, but it doesn't seem that the code exists for the U.S. version, so I guess it was just easier for 2 players on easy. We were very good at it because we played it so much but there is no way we beat it on hard. I only just saw that extra last boss tonight using the hacked rom code. It's too bad Konami made games so difficult that cheat codes were needed. A great game that few people ever got to see in its entirety because I guess that's what creative types and coders want: for most of what they create to be seen by as few people as possible...
