My Grandfather and Grandmother (Rev. Paul and Rena MacKinney) moved there around 1951 or 1952 and founded a church, library and school. My Mother, Francis MacKinney taught at the school. My Father, James Hanna, was stationed at Goose Bay an Air Policeman but later became an Arctic Survival Instructor and Scout living in a Trapper's Cabin along the river. My Uncle, Dan MacKinney was a Missionary Bush Pilot out of there. My parents met, married and here I am! My Uncle died in his airplane Christmas Eve of 1958. My Grandfather died of infection from a cut early in 1959. Both are buried there. We're headed to Happy Valley this September to honor their memory. This is such a wonderful film to give us added insight to the stories we've heard all our lives! Thanks so much!

Played Cochrane as a touring musician in the 80’s. Played the Albert Hotel-it had an albino moose head in the lobby! I also remember it was near the train station and I think I remember going to the station had a cafe where you could get a good, cheap breakfast.

Thank you for uploading this. My first house was in Hull. Lots of great memories. It is a shame that "la ville de Gatineau" has no interest in preserving history.

Did a couple of detachments to Goose Bay with the RAF when I was stationed in West Germany, thoroughly enjoyed my time there, it's a pity that most of the European NATO Air Forces that used to operate there decided to pull out around 2006/2007.

I've visited the island a few times, but that wasn't nearly enough to learn much about it, so this program really hits the spot. Didn't realize the jesuits still had a niche. Is there even one other mission left in all of Ontario?

Back in the 1970s to 1990, it was a great place to live. Today all you see is a drug-infested town with tons of theft going on and nothing done about it. Today you can't even buy a home unless you are a doctor or lawyer and if you do manage to buy a house you are not just dealing with a mortgage but also the ridiculous property tax they hike almost every year, There's way too much greed in this town they make it very hard for people to live here.

In the early 90's. I lived in Moosonee for two years and Moose Factory for two years. I had relocated there working for The Northwest Company AKA Northern Stores as well as local grocery outlet called Chilly Willies. Myself and family have very fond memories of the area and it's people. While it may be cut off from major centres I found it incredible to have met visitors from all over the world.

Born and raised in the Sudbury Region, I've since decided to relocate. While I love learning about the history of my hometown, it also makes me miss being there. I absolutely loved this video and appreciate everything I've learned from it. Thanks for sharing. No matter how far I roam, Sudbury will always be home.

I always knew Brampton to be a city of concrete and cars, cars, cars.. Its nice to see what it once was. I want to brave the boundaries of highway and try to find what is left from the video. I once came from a small countryside of Stoney Creek, till Hamilton started to pave over it with its tight subdivisions and tall homes. I've taken my family to a small town of Acton, but most likely a boom will come to that town too.
