Skip the traffic and skip the Hoh Rainforest. If you want to see rainforesty areas, go to Lake Crescent.

Unregulated oil wells coming soon if Trump wins. He said we do not need Government oversight so gone is the EPA and on to oil wells in all national parks. Guess we could install XMas lights on them.

Is there a trail that goes up to the summit like Black Mountain trail does in Mount Mitchell? ( if anyone is familiar with MM).
@stevepinto221323 күн бұрын
Nah never heard of MM
@jeremygriffith74962 күн бұрын
The smokies encompass many mountains and many summit so it would depend. Probably the most famous summit would be Mt. Leconte (with the famous lodge at the top). There are many very popular trails to reach the top such as alum cave, boulevard trail, and rainbow falls. As the video states there is also clingmans dome which has a parking lot about a half mile from the summit

@@jeremygriffith7496 and that’s exactly the one I hiked a week and a half ago! It was amazing! Difficulty level is certainly intermediate if you want to finish it to the very top. And just like Mount Mitchell in NC it’s at least 10 miles out and back. Only thing I didn’t like was the number of tourist. It’s INSANE and quite sad actually. Ps. Don’t take any detours unless you want to find some ugly and gross 🤮 puddles.

Is it free to go there?

They should make the nearest parking lot 20 miles away and destroy all the roads to it just leaving walking trails.

I was born in the Park in '58. All seasons reveal unique aspects so I recommend visiting, if possible, all 4 seasons. This video was a nostalgic visit to my hometown🎉

I’m from Washington and it ain’t 60 miles from Seattle. I’d say more like 120-150 miles and with traffic and two lane roads, it’s easily 3-4 hours from Seattle.
@Amandahugginkiss-p7z26 күн бұрын
Yes it actually is. What part were you coming from and which part did you go? Olympic national Park spans across a HUGE area. You can reach parts of it within an hour drive of every area on the coast

If you are up to it I would thoroughly recommend the hike up from the Yosemite Valley to Tuolumne Meadows. It takes a few days, but you will remember them for the rest of your life. I've done it twice.

It wasn’t a wildfire that destroyed the Hurricane Ridge Lodge. The cause of the fire is undetermined but originated within the lodge itself.

In 1995, I visited the park and cooked a steak on my grill. This was at the North rim. I finished eating and soon after, two falcons flew near me. For 20 minutes, they whistled past me like two miniature jets doing acrobatic precision manouvers. I'll never forget that.
