I’ve been watching your build very nice car love it I have a sedan 56 no where near the build this is but very nice love to see this at the tri 5 nationals hopefully you will consider to come last year bout 3 thousand cars there
@mikespring26586 ай бұрын
Nice work. The hood issue on 56's has always been an issue. The problem is there isn't enough arc in the rib down the center so if it flattens for any reason (like shipping if aftermarket or someone sitting on it, etc.), the metal is pushed outwards and thus creating the oil canning effect. Sight the hood and look at the rib from front to back and see if it has a flat spot in it.

Looking good I stumbled across your channel when you painted it im back tracking. FYI I had good luck shrinking some oil canning with one of those heat inductors used for heating bolts on a restoration I did on a BMW.a while back I was experimenting with it and it worked I also have a sun chaser serrated shrinking disc I got from Ken Sakamoto when I took his metal finishing class that works really well. Your car looks great nice job and you are seriously blessed with such a nice shop

What’s the easiest way to cut and prep the filler in the door gaps when it’s time for paint ???
@BostonHotRods8 ай бұрын
Fine tooth air saw blade, cutting the gaps open by hand is my method.
@mrgreezy19 ай бұрын
To my knowledge fiberglass filler had to be heat baked.. did you just let the short strand filler dry by itself ? If so how long did it take to cure ? And does short strand filler shrink ? Because I have heard that..
@BostonHotRods8 ай бұрын
Nope, doesn't need to be heat cured. It's harder to sand, but sets up just like any other filler. I usually only use it when removing factory lead seams, welding them back up, and want a stronger filler base over the seam. It's probably overkill, but it's a piece of mind for any future body flex.

Spectacular job!! I may have missed it, but how do you like that spray booth? Also, how does it exhaust? I'm assuming outside, but how?
@BostonHotRods8 ай бұрын
It's okay. It needs an external pull fan in addition to the internal pressure fan to exhaust any clear coat. I exhaust it out the door with a charcoal filter in line.

Welcome back, I suggest spiked shoes to avoid those pesky slip and slide incidents this winter LOL! You need to keep current on Daisy's build schedule, as your next build is awaiting shipping and delivery, still has fluid leak under the trans. Great job showing details often lacking in other videos. Catch us up faster, cant wait to see the next video showing your progress!!!
