I too am an adult orphan. The only way I cope well is that I didn't come from a traditional family. My father let my mother run the show. I was not raised patriarchal, I was raised matriarchal. I have more esteem because I don't rely on tradition.

Damn this is heartbreaking. I was molested by my older brother when I was around 7-8. Still not knowing what sex was or having watched pornography until after the fact. Even though what happened is now apart of my life experience, it took a lot of therapy to understand that what took place didn’t define me nor my self worth. I hope you guys are doing alright🫤 it’s not talked about enough
@Max-cq7ni2 ай бұрын
I was molested by my cousin at about 5 and at about 7 later by the kid of someone who used to work on our houses. I was under the assumptions it was a game. I haven't come forward yet. Its hard brothers
@NunTheWizerPod2 ай бұрын
It’s definitely hard and unfortunately for men especially black men, anything abuse against us almost always leads to someone emasculating us. Well at least trying to. Nonetheless this is a safe space man. I’m sorry that you’ve had to endure that 😩

Not true necessarily. There’s a ton of information online, do your due diligence. Ignorance like this is a strong reason why a lot of men do not feel comfortable opening up and sharing their story.

I was sexually abused at 4 as well. My aunt would babysit me. She was 15 at the time and it felt good. I kept it a secret for many years and I thought that maybe one day the pain would just magically disappear. It wasn’t until I tried EMDR therapy with a professional therapist that I was finally able to completely heal from this.
@NunTheWizerPod2 ай бұрын
First of all I am sorry that you too had this terrible experience that I sincerely wouldn’t wish upon anyone.. 🙏🏽 secondly, I’d love to hear more about EMDR? What exactly is that and is it something you’d recommend for everyone who’s experienced this type of abuse?

@NunTheWizerPod it's Eye movement and reprocessing therapy, many trained therapists can use it as a way to unlock memories and process them.
@Amlo5892 ай бұрын
@@NunTheWizerPod This type of therapy is a type of hypnosis. And the therapist helps you create a safe space in your mind, and you have to recreate the trauma in your mind. You basically relive it, confront it, and then they give you steps to heal emotionally. I tried 6 therapists and non of them offered this service (didn’t even know it existed at the time.) Until the last therapist that I found offered this service to me. It was God sent.
