This song makes me cry every time!! Johnny was very ill by the time this video was shot. He was not able to go to a studio so the whole thing is shot in his house in TN. I'm always amazed at how this song shows two different men ( Cash & Reznor) at different stages of life and how they interpret it differently. Johnny is only the artist to be inducted into the Gospel Music Hall Of Fame, the Country Music Hall Of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. You REALLY should delve into this man's music. I was never much of a country music fan but I could listen to him all day long. His last few albums were produced by Rick Rubin who produced many great musicians including Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers. There are several covers of songs His life and Trent's life sort of mirror each other. They both fell into addiction and depression. With Johnny it was alcohol and prescription drugs. An amazing man! The Man In Black!

it is normal that people tell you dont compare kanye with them because hip hop and rap are not music this is music with instruments no auto tune with the amzing voice that freddie had .if you find time listen to dire straits supertrump and you will see what real music is with pure talent that makes your soul fly away every time

Johnny Cash DID hurt a lot of people, that's why this song works. He was a drug addict and had a lot of demons.

You did NOT!!! Seriously? How could you make that comparison? That’s absurd, and I’m sure you have managed to raise the ire of every single Queen fan in history. 🙄✌🏼😎🇺🇸

In case no one else told you, the man he killed is his own image having to hide being gay for so long and not wanting to hurt his mother.

If you like this then you "have" to watch queen/live aid , this gig is probably going to be the best live gig ever, love your reaction and I can forgive you for the Kanye comparison (someone below needs to chill, lol), also there's another video with 60,000 green day fans singing along with the pre show music, its effing amazing.

Their best song and that's saying alot cause they have a lot of great songs this one originally my favorite is now especially. Understanding what he meant by killing a man which is he killed his manhood back then especially being gay can by some people be like killing your man hood and then how people react to it

I was brought up through this era, everyone will have there take on this song, i would like you to listen again, and this is my take on the song, having listened to it for nearly 50 years, tell me what you think, its a story from start to end, i will keep if brief and you can fill in the blanks he killed a man, and told his mother, if he not here tomorrow, he is arrested, he is in jail, knowing he charged with murder, thinking his life choices, which i never been born then he goes to court, will you let me go, no, pleading for forgiveness, he is guilty, death penalty, electric chair, hence the thunderbolts of lightning, he know he is going to die, and for his crimes, expects to go to hell, not heaven, because he says what does the devil have in store for me, you get the drift, listen again, let me know what you think, its just my take on the song

The music and the long hair was brand new...they invented that look. Parents and government poiliticans hated them. Some went tso far as to claim they were a communist plot lol. perfect for teenager and kids lol. BTW you cannot hear John Lennon on the right because some ass monkeyed with his mic volume in the control booth. No monitors back then , they COULD NOT HEAR THEMSELVES!! I highly recommend wtching the 2016 documentary Eight Days a Week, and the 1964 movie musicla comedy A AHrd Days Noght starring the BEatles...it wiklleducate you on how famous they were, and improtant for decades to come hopop and rock music.w influential they were to even today's. it s my belief they actujally saved rock and roll from dying on the vine nder adult control.

React to Queen Live Aid 1985 it is 20 minutes but worth it. Freddie was friends with Micheal Jackson they tried to do a few songs together.

You really need to listen to the studio version. This live version doesn't show you the sheer power of the song. There's a world of difference in the two.

Yes, this is one of the very early hits. Music was different then and they were trying to break into the market. And the changes that happened to music over the next 6 years were a direct result of them. If you start at the beginning of their career and move forward in time, you will note an amazing evolution unlike anything before or since. This being the LIVE Ed Sullivan show with all the ambient noise and screaming kind of corrupts the song a bit. Listen to the studio version for better production values. Even today many of their albums still top the list of greatest ever even today. There's a real reason they are considered the GOATS.
