Do you find the vibration on the tiller handle at full throttle to be bad ? I have one of these motors and it vibrates the handle terribly at full throttle.Its so bad it makes your hand itch.

Vibration is terrible. I use the tiller extension at long straight routes. But it's impossible to make sharp maneuvers with the extension.
@6___________99_____________64

@@boatsandoutboards9070 So I have managed to remedy the vibration problem quite nicely. Firstly you have to make sure that the cavitation plate is not too low into the water when on plane. This makes a huge difference to the vibration levels experienced at the tiller handle. Secondly I went down a inch on the prop pitch which allows the engine to Rev a little higher at top speed this further reduced the vibration to the point where I'm honestly impressed as to how smooth it is now. Hope this helps
@boatsandoutboards9070

@@6___________99_____________64 thanks. I don't reach planing speeds most of the time with 2 people onboard and the tiller vibration at 4-5knots is very disturbing. At planing speeds as you say, I didn't notice much vibration: maybe there is no noticable vibration, or maybe the vibration is small compared to waves hitting and shaking the boat.

@@boatsandoutboards9070 i suggest you start by removing the cap, and poke around a little with the lever that controls the gearbox and the starter. you will see that once you put it in gear, it will pull a cord connected to a plastic piece blocking another plastic disk which is connected to the starter. I’ve got a newer 2018 model of this same engine and it is a lemon. The exhaust valve seizes anytime it is stored, and not run for longer than two weeks. It’s almost 2 1/2 years old, and we’ve only been able to put 30 hrs on it, because it is always down. It’s been to the shop, and the complete valve train and cylinder head was replaced under warranty. The problem with the sticking valve continues to happen. I’ll never buy another Suzuki outboard. Support from Suzuki is non existent. They will not admit to having a problem with these engines.

Just bought a Used 2018 When you say stored do you mean on its side?. Mine is permanently mounted to the boat upright.
@rodgraff1782
@rodgraff1782 4 жыл бұрын
No it is stored upright on a motor mount, attached to the rear railing of our trawler. The power head is covered. The engine is flushed with fresh water after each use, and it is then run out of fuel, and the carburetor float bowl is drained. We have tried to leave the engine on TDC, both valves closed, but then when we pull the starter cord, it will bend the exhaust valve push rod, because the exhaust valve is seized in its guide. If we store it with the valve open, not on the compression stroke, the valve will seize open, and the push rod will fall aside, and there will be no compression. These engines have a defect, and we all need to call Suzuki in Brea California, or else we will be stuck with lemon engines that will have to be junked. According to our repair shop, Suzuki has a problem with their valves. Even though they replaced everything, we still have the same defect.

s2oooo John Walker, who has a you tube channel and video about his fold a boat and DF6A, had this same problem, and his Suzuki dealer installed some sort of update part that vents moisture away from the valve area. He said Suzuki is aware of the problems, but they denied they knew of any issues, when I called them in Brea, CA. They said there’re were no recalls or updates. When I did not accept their answer, they hung up on me, and won’t return our calls. Shitty company, with shitty support. They won’t let you talk to anyone technical, just a gopher who answers the phone. The person even said to me “ don’t try to explain anything to me, I am not a technical person.” Sounded like the call was coming from India.

I had one of these and all I had was problems with leaking oil,took it back three times in one year only after five actual days of use.After which I was told it was something minor that needed fixing only to have it not start once I wanted to go fishing two days later.Called them again and I was then told that some piston in the exhaust area was stuck and I later found out from the same mechanic that mine was the third one sold that had the problem.So after some pressure I later found out that it was an actual fault by the manufacturers and they were making a new piston that would not stick in the exhaust housing,meanwhile these mofos are selling this product knowing fully well it had a fault. I went to the office and asked for my full refund and after some resistance I did get my money back,buyer beware.

I have the same motor, a 2018 DF6AS2, that is a piece of shit. It has a factory defect with the valves. They seize up any time the motor is stored longer than a few weeks. Went to the shop under warranty and had the WHOLE valve train replaced, along with the cylinder head, and the first time it was stored, the same problem happened again. BUYER BEWARE. We’re trying to get our money back, but Suzuki won’t help. Even the Suzuki authorized shop said Suzuki had a problem with their valves, but Suzuki will not admit it. They said we had to keep bringing it back for warranty work. We’ve had it 2.5 years, and only have been able to put 30 hours on it, because it’s always problematic.

TONY Bee it is a problem, because They have not been able to fix it, and in another few months, it will be out of warranty. It is a problem, because we have only been able to put 30 hours on the engine, because it fails to start when we need to launch our tender, which is also the life raft for our Trawler. It is a problem, because when we call Suzuki, they will not let us talk to anybody technical, about the problem, and we can only converse with some one who answers the phone, and tells us we need to take it back to the repair shop. Suzuki is a shitty company, who won’t stand behind their product. I have talked to a dealer in Australia, who as also said that there are problems when these engines are stored, and Suzuki will try to put the blame on the owners.
