Im in love with that anchor! It seems to me that you could just toss it in, ensure enough line and not care beyond that... when the tide changes it will just reset in that direction... price? For a 20' keelboat

My local Marina has a 1976 Luhrs 32 fisherman I think is what it is, idk why but I like the looks, kinda reminds me of Gilligan's island, I know it's inboard Chrysler gas 300hp, I know most prefer diesel, I don't know that much about yachts though, it has been setting there a long time for $15k.

this has been disproven. The manual itself says to only discharge occasionally, which is still great!. But only regularly discharge to 50%, you will be disappointed otherwise. The reason for this incorrect recommendation is that people seem to like making eye-popping announcements. Anyway its a moot point now as the US distributor has ceased selling due to quality control issues. Doubtlessly these salacious claims didn't help. This is a mistake all new battery manufacturers make before they learn it hurts business more in the long run to allow unchecked claims.

They are still going strong! It was actually 8 years ago now when we installed them (June 2015). Although if we were making the same decision on which batteries to use in 2023 I would likely go with lithium. Prices are SO much better now, and the performance/safety is even better. That being said, the carbon fiber batts are definitely way better than lead acid for long term cruising.

Just last week my highschool had a sailing trip to the San Juan islands. It was very memorable and me and all my friends grew close together. James island and skull island were my most favorite island. At James island me and my friend would sit on the curved tree at 1:55 and talk and me and my other friends tried climbing the madrona on the left lol. The San Juan islands are truly beautiful.

As an owner of a 5 years old 32 boat, the visibility as you mentioned is VERY POOR. On plane the boat isn't perfect "on plane". there is a degree of upwards in the bow of the boat. From the seating position I can't see squat. I have to stand up to be closer to the window and see in front of the boat. Very poor design. This is the general opinion of real boat owner and not of a salesperson.

Hello there, the video is dated as 1 year ago. Is that accurate and how is the coating performing?
@pacificNWboater
@pacificNWboater Жыл бұрын
Hi Nathan - This video was originally published in April, 2013. We revised the video description last year as the boat yard company we used no longer exists. But to answer your question, the Coppercoat is still working great almost 10 years later. The hull develops a slime layer, but no hard growth adheres to the surface of the hull. Things can attach themselves to the slime, but they are easily wiped off along with the slime. A plastic scraper works great, too. Areas where there is no Coppercoat - rudders, struts, props, etc. - will get barnacles and other hard growth. But not the hull itself. In fact our neighbor just dove on our boat two weeks ago to clean our props and he reported that the hull looked great.

@nathankusler I have copper coat on my boat, 49' defever' and we just took the boat out after about 7 months in the water. It was a simple rinse with a bit of pressure, but to be honest that was not even necessary. We spend a lot of time on anchor in the Med and that means warm water, but absolutely no problem whatsoever. The reason we went out of the water is the installation of stabilizers, so now I have to patch the coppercoat up again, which I am doing myself. What made me decide for coppercoat ? Every 2 years I had to renew the anti-fouling, which was 1200 euro haul out, 2000 euro in sanding and application cost and then around 1000 - 1500 euro in anti fouling product. Now I paid 2500 euro for the copper coat and 1600 euro for the sandblasting plus application. It is that we now had to come out of the water, but once we go back in at the end of this week, we are not planning to take the boat out for the next couple of years. With the old anti-fouling I had to hire a diver to clean the hull twice a year and that was 600 euro each time. So when you make the calculation you are saving a ton of money using copper coat. And that money I can spend on other parts of the boat, which is great. I do recommend you get some people, who know what they are doing, to apply it for you. If you have never done it and never seen it the chances you are going to mess up are pretty big. That would be a pity, so I paid very well attention how they applied it and now I can do the patch up around the stabilzers myself. So yes, I am a very happy customer.
@nathankusler3855
@nathankusler3855 Жыл бұрын
It certainly sounds like the way to go with a warm water ocean, I had customers in southern California that hauls just for a pressure wash every 3 or 4 months, even with good antifoul.

Fun fact: The scene in Hunt For Red October where Alec Baldwin falls from the helicopter into the water, to get on the submarine, was filmed in the Juan de Fuca Strait area, and that was really was Alec falling into the water. In fact, he said how cool it would be to have the scene set up the way it is in the movie, and John McTiernan took him up on that offer.

@pacificNWboater Жыл бұрын
Hi Michael - Sorry for the delayed response! I didn't get a notice from KZfaq about your comment. Just came across it. You may already have found an answer, but the Furuno itself does not have GPS. In order for the TZ navigation app to function properly, you will need an iPad with GPS. That being said, if you have another navigation source and you just want to use radar, the Furuno app itself does not need an iPad with GPS, just wifi capability.
