in a CARRY 22?? IMHO....ALWAYS USE SOLIDS.... the HP is useless as expansion velocity is never met. . the cavity actually collects junk (clothing fibers etc) as it enters, slowing it down and DECREASING penetration The solid will go deeper all things being equal. The expansion he did get was from a bone impact. even a soft lead solid will "upset" some after smacking a bone or other hard obstruction.

A standard 2-3/4" length 20 gauge shotgun shell , like a target load or general purpose field load, is loaded with either 3/4 or 7/8ths of an ounce of shot. The 12 gauge is loaded with one ounce, or ounce and an eighth. Given the same size shot, assuming the same circumstances, it's going to do the same thing in a slightly smaller hole at typical home defense distance. The velocity is the same, the pellets are the same, just a little bit fewer of them and shot through a slightly smaller bore. That's it.

When I am shooting 22 to 380 I don't want to shoot hollow points. Hollow points was made to provide a brake within the body cavity. You get more damage with depth than width. Hollow points for 380 and smaller rounds is a gimick. 22lr is just fine for SD as long as you stay away from hollow points and fragmenting rounds.

There are plenty of videos showing simulations in jell even real pork ribs , quiet effective results I assure you. There are reports from doctors in hospitals told of many many lethal wounds of 22 ammunition . What makes it so dangerous is people underestimate its capability and devastating wounds they usually bleed to death on the way to the hospital said the report.

Love your furry buddy, i have the Belgian/German cross lovely animal ! Have purchased a .22 lr /s 9 shooter revolver, still waiting for the licencing, this is South Africa! My biggest motivation for it is ammo cost, my .32 long revolver ammo is 6 to seven times the price of cheap white box .22 ammo .38 special is not much better! I will take my chances with a .22 as a edc , they are so easy to shoot and won't tear your eardrums apart in a crises situation where ear protection is not possible!

As far as 410 slugs go, I prefer Brenneke because they are made with a harder alloy and don't deform like a soft lead slug.

I agree 100%! I made a video or two with a .410 using different ammo. The slug did not perform well at all. It broke apart and didn't penetrate much. If I would have used Brenneke instead of a foster slug the results would have been much different. I appreciate you watching :-)
