My new Land Cruiser is only getting 16.3 mpg for the first 900 miles of mostly city driving which is disappointing given the EPA city rating is 22. Also noticed that when you reset the odometer and mileage at the start of the test this one was only reading 16.0 mpg for 800 miles.

You guys balanced out each other. How she describes it leans toward how she feels and she puts how she feels in words so good that I was like "oh yeah I feel that sometimes too". While on the other hand, you are more technical and straight to the point. It's nice that you don't cut her off too and let her describe it the way she wants it. I wish you both well and great luck in your channel.

This is a great review... Lifted wagon was the first car I drove, and switched to an SUV. I was a bit confused and did not feel the excitement or the different feel you're describing in the SUV. This year I decided to switch to a lifted wagon once again and V60 is on top of my list.

By the way. the Land Cruiser is fuil time 4 wheel drive. You can't put it into 2 wheel drive. The locking center differential will evenly split power (50% front and 50% back) instead of the normal mode for the center differential which will allow the front wheels and rear wheels to turn at different rates. If you lock the center differential and make a tight turn in a parking lot you'll feel the rear wheels hop/skip because the rear wheels are moving a shorter distance then the front wheels but the locked center diff makes then all turn at the same speed. That's why you should only lock the center diff In an off-road situation where the tires can easily slip across the dirt. But, the advantage of the locked center diff in an off road situation is that if the front wheel lose traction then all the power isn't sent to the front wheel like it is in the normal torsen clutch setting. Instead, 50% of the power is guaranteed to be sent to the back wheels even if the fronts are slipping. The whole combination of locking the center diff and locking the rear diff and the Toyota ATRAC system is more complicated that what I said above, but the basics of what I said are correct.
@offtheshelfrides
@offtheshelfrides 23 сағат бұрын
Thank you for that information. When they delivered it to me, center was locked and a pain to turn at low speed or park. When I got it unlocked, it drove normal. I assumed that released it to a rear wheel drive. I misunderstood the information I recieved. Thanks for clearing that up!

@offtheshelfrides
@offtheshelfrides Күн бұрын
Great Questions!! There was 813 miles and it was delivered to me with a full tank. I don't know if the media company follows recommendations of not. So, some might say the engine isn't fully broken in, while that is true, it should have minimal effect on MPG. But, if they put 87 octane in instead of 93 like I did....that could have a negative result on the test.

The fact this engine requires premium fuel, which is 90 cents a gallon more than regular where I live, makes the fuel economy numbers for this SUV a potential deal breaker.

No. The price is 2x what you can get an ICE mini van for and 30% too high to have any mass appeal. I've waited 20 years for this van, through at least 4 prototypes and we knew from the beginning this van would be priced out of the atmosphere. $59,995 for the base version is fully ridiculous. My theory has always been that all the Tesla cars up to 2017 were built to make a statement about the quality and reliability of the electric cars. Then when the Model 3 production was started, all the attention to detail had been sacrificed.

@@offtheshelfrides it also has to do with where you put your resources. When the Model 3 was launched to come out, the number of orders to fulfill must have been overwhelming. I don't think Elon wanted to sacrifice any quality of the Model S, but he did have to divide his attention to making sure the latest car not only had met within the expectations of its deadline, but also ensure that the quality of the car had met or exceeded the expectation of the public. Elon like Steve Jobs wants the "WOW!" factor in everything he puts out. He knew he was going up against an industry that would curtail him in every way possible, so his way to beat the system was to exceed far beyond any other car company. I just recently bought a 2016 P90D and I can tell you in all honesty that the car is as solid as the day it was built. (Unlike BMW, Merc, etc.) My point is based on my experience that comes from owning a pizza business for 4 years. I don't think any "rational" business owner wants to sacrifice quality to save a little money. The best scenario is less expense, equal quality. If you have a strong customer base, you know that anything you change can easily change things for the worse. The problem is, you may be doing something that is destroying your business and never know it, because most people won't outright tell you what you're doing wrong, so when you do make these changes, you need to be REAL careful that it doesn't destroy the very foundation that you had built your life upon. My little experience in business really helped me realize just how little I knew about business. Sorry, this came out a bit wordy, and is just my perspective, but I've always loved hearing input from others. I really enjoyed watching your video.
