When I go out to shoot street photography I generally carrie several things with me. 1. I prefer to use Sony 135mm and 85mm GM prime to keep my distance from people that may not like their pictures taken. 2. I wear a shirt that reads "Never Underestimate a photographer who's also a U.S Veteran" (got it on ebay) which sets people at ease. 3. Positive Attitude! I walk around with a smile, say 'hello' to everyone. Lastly, General rule: Whether positive or negative, the energy that we emit into your environment effects the outcome of our day. Think happy and smile. Smiles can be contagious 😊

@@dsblairphotos I started by photographing people in my immediate circle. Then I had an idea for a portrait project and posted calls for participants on Facebook, Nextdoor, etc. There were people who wanted new photos for social media so it became a trade for time.

You don't need a portfolio to do street portraits. Rather, it's a great way to build one. Will having one to show, like suggested in the video, get you more yes's? Probably, but it's really not needed.

the wobble you have can be fixed easily. the front group does not have separation is has a specific haze. In my experience this lens does not suffer from schneidereitis but has small circular haze build up on the glass that reflects on the black paint and looks like schneidereitis. The front group can be removed and the glass too but by a very good craftsman who can cut the edge with a fine saw. I did this yesterday after buying this lens after watching your video. I have a decade of camera repair experience and even for me it was challenging to work that precisely while cutting. I am located in Austria if you ever wish to get it serviced.

Thanks for your comment. I actually just use the lens when I want some extra character in my photos. Otherwise I use a different 28mm. I appreciate the offer. Will keep you in mind if/when I decided to get it repaired.
@Bbarm97Ай бұрын
@@ShawnPBruce the wobble you can fix yourself! in the back you will see that there are two retaining rings, one around the back element and one outer ring with two notches, using two flathead screwdrivers, or better a lens spanner wrench you can tighten it, doesnt need to be too tight just enough to not wobble. its a cheap fix and id recommend doing it

I haven’t really had a chance to test the Leica 28mm Summilux enough to make a conclusion. The Leica lens design is ten years old now, so depending on what advancements they’ve made in manufacturing or glass production, the Thypoch could be pretty even. I’m still using my Thypoch 28mm daily and love it. It’s been fantastic.

Ай бұрын
I’m sucked into the leica world now 😅 the Elmarit 28 has been great. But feeling like I want that wider aperture and more light versatility. I would save up for the 28 Summilux but I really hate purple/green fringing in general- my eye is super sensitive to CA so no way I can justify 5k+ for that noise. Have you seen any fringing with this?

At 2:15 ...the Minolta looks like it was shot on some Agfa or Konica negative film. Looks so good! I love the low contrast and slight cyan tint. It's not good for high contrast scene or landscapes but it shines with portraits! Maybe the lens can use a CLA but as a people lens it works really well.

Absolutely agree, love the skate pictures. But also the fact that you shoot with a rangefinder. I’m using the 260, also the TTArtisan 11mm and a 135mm Elmar. What flashes are you using? And which 90mm do you have?Also thinking to get one. I know, I know, gear questions are boring. Thanks and looking forward to new videos.
@ShawnPBruce6 ай бұрын
I actually love talking about gear. I'm using the Konica 90mm f2.8; I have mixed emotions about it. It's sharp when the focus is right, but I struggle to get the focus right for some reason. It's so sensitive. I had a Leica 90mm f4 and I regret selling it now. Lately I've just been using the 50mm Summicron for longer lens stuff. I'd say 99% of the photos with flash were done with the LightPix Labs FlashQ Q20II. I absolutely love it. Mine broke because I wrecked skating. I'll definitely buy another though. Otherwise, I use two Godox v860iii flashes with a wireless transmitter.
@DanielMista6 ай бұрын
Will check the f4 90mm. Thanks. Thought about getting the older Summicron 90mm for a bit more background blur and separation but focus might get tricky, agree. Also have a Godox v860ii and a SF60 with transmitter. In bright daylight it sometimes struggled to bring up enough power. I am now waiting for a Nissin MG10 flashgun for extra power. Not sure if it is worth it though.
@ShawnPBruce6 ай бұрын

Can I ask how long the strap on your bag is fully extended? Because mine is too short, I am unable to use it. I've seen a couple of reviews before I bought it and I am thinking something went wrong with my strap... fully extended it is about 40 inches and the padding is always in a place at my neck or chin, it's totally useless, no matter on which side I try to wear the bag. The strap on the 9L i got is 13 inches longer and I can't help but wonder if that's supposed to be like that... I totally love the bag, so I just switched the straps, don't miss the padding and don't mind the color (brown vs black as I got the nightsky 10L but the orange/rust 9L), but it seems weird.
@ShawnPBruce6 ай бұрын
It looks like mine is 44 inches from end to end when fully extended. I wonder if you reach out if they'll have a longer strap. I wouldn't hate a longer strap either, really.

@@ShawnPBruce Update: I was suoset with the first response and sent them another email (I might have been a tad annoyed when I did that) saying that for 195 Euros I really should be entitled to a strap that has the right specs.
