Avéline and Connor are like the most innocent assassins. I wished there was more to them and their stories.

Poor Avéline. It must have hurted her so much to be betrayed by Madeleine. You can see the bond she believed to have with her. It was strong.

Mirabeau and De la Serre were weak and short sighted, believing anyone from Louis' court could replace him, when everyone at that time was more corrupt than him. As long as it is the weak willed who make treaties, Bellec will be right. It should have been Connor and Haytham. They understood. They were strong.

I'm not much of a fan of Aya. To me, she seemed too focused on the bigger picture to give Bayek the closure he needed. Bayek is a man of emotions and connections. He is well beloved in Siwa, he makes friends easily, and he has a strong affinity with children. He was so emotionally distraught by the death of Khemu that he could hear his voice in his head. Bayek's entire quest is to find the men responsible and exact revenge. He bonds with kids like Shadya and Esiocles so easily because they remind him of Khemu and the joys of parenting. Aya, meanwhile, is more focused on the Order of Ancients as a whole. She sees the danger they pose to all of Egypt. Unfortunately, this perspective makes her come across as if her son's death didn't hit her nearly as hard as it did Bayek. He clearly needs her emotional support, but she keeps her distance. When she mentions their relationship has fractured, I can't blame Bayek. The idea of forsaking their identities as parents and lovers also seems to go against the premise of the story. Bayek is defined by his role as medjay and father. By taking that away, you make his struggles seem pointless. Aya's bloodlust is also pretty unnerving. Both her and Bayek have their moments of intense rage. They kill Rudjek and Actaeon in very similar ways. The difference is that Bayek doesn't seem proud of his rage, while Aya revels in it. At the end of the game she has plenty of disturbing lines about death. Bayek tempers his bloodlust, while Aya gives in to it. Before I played the game for myself, I thought it was a mistake for Bayek and Aya to break up. Now that I've finished it, I think they never should have been together at all. They aren't very compatible. I can understand Aya liking life as a nameless shadow, serving a higher cause. But it doesn't fit Bayek. He clearly craves a family. He needs a fresh start in order to move on, but he won't have it with Aya. Bayek would work far better as an Ezio type assassin. A folk hero his people can rally behind, who isn't afraid to be as free as the creed he follows.

Such a greatly written game. You play thinking you are the hero and after hours of playthrough, you realize you are not much different than the "bad guys". The twist they were able to pull in this game is why it'll always be the best AC.

Adewale probably considered it a betrayal of Edward's memory that Haytham didn't leave the Templars and defect to the Assassins when he found out Edward was an Assassin and the Templars were the ones who killed him.

It's crazy to think that Blackbeard's actual death was grander than even this. The man was shot 6 times and stabbed and slashed about 20 before someone caught him with a cutlass to the neck. Absolute Legend.

As hard a life as Altair had, at least he ended it in the best way he could. He had seen more than anyone could in a dozen lifetimes, had loyal but not blind supporters, saw at least one son grow up to be a fine man with his own family, invented and influenced how the assassin order would do their work for the next 900 years and lived a long life before dying in his sleep. Compare that to, say, Edward Kenway. He is murdered by someone he thought he could trust who would also sell his daughter to slavery, corrupt his son, indirectly cause the death of Adewale and pit Haytham and his own son against each other.
