So as for auto focus we all know now is preferred, the main info i think we all need is response time settings and actual MENU settings, take us into your menu settings and let's see those, that's most important to a lot of us.

Peter, before learning editing, did you learn other things first? Like storytelling or just everything there was to know about your camera? I don’t wanna skip steps I’m a beginner
@petersarellasКүн бұрын
Honestly I learned how to edit first with random GoPro footage I filmed and through editing I learned a bit about storytelling, then learned cameras about a year later and slowly started piecing it together

Since its for premier do you think it won’t work well with other editors like davinci ?

They’re specifically premiere pro presets so unfortunately it won’t work with DaVinci or other editors for now. That may be something I develop in the future.

Recording on 3 different cameras, how do you match them all up with the timeline afterwards lol
@petersarellas5 күн бұрын
When I’m bringing the footage in afterwards I’ll usually line everything up based on the time finder says it was recorded from earliest to latest. It isn’t that hard quite honestly since I’ve got a fairly consistent game day routine and am not switching cameras back and forth too frequently either

I always say it takes two people to get something done around the house: one person to do it, and another person to say "oh hey, that's good" same way with Video like you're saying: reaction shots solidify everything.

I’m about to shoot a soccer game with my FX30 and 18-105 in APSC mode. Should I shoot the whole game in 60fps? It’s just to test my camera for sports video, not for a client. Do I need to shoot in S-Log at all?
@petersarellas5 күн бұрын
If you’re just shooting a game to text I’d recommend trying out different frame rates and picture profiles so that you can figure out what you like best for when there’s a client

I see you shoot a lot of video. Based on some of your previous vids. Do you feel the 35-150 has enough coverage for soccer or would it still be best to go with a 70-200 f4? Not sure if you are shooting with the 35-150 for football continuously or if it falls short on the long end.
@petersarellas5 күн бұрын
I usually film game action for football with a 70-200mm on a crop sensor (unless we’re near the red zone and the play is coming at me) and since soccer fields are a similar size I’d generally recommend the same setup

I use the FX30 and I got the Tamron 70-180 ff lens and I don't regret it at all. Its so sharp and I get the extra reach that I was looking for vs buying a not as good APSC zoom lens.

Definitely something I tell people getting into video is that investing in ONE system makes a world of difference in the long run, the convenience will outweigh whatever little money you save grabbing a bunch of different brands

@@petersarellas same I was fortunate enough that my first big light purchases were 4 ft pavotubes so I bought moonlights from nanlite once I realized I needed more power and built on their ecosystem. Nowadays there’s great options from most companies but back then it was either astera or nanguang for tubes

Do you record audio separately and add it in post when filming in slow motion (higher frame rates)? If so, how?
@fotochero14 күн бұрын
how come your videos look so crisp even with a high ISO??
@royaltykidstv15 күн бұрын
So record at 60fps or 120fps to get slow motion, but your timeline has to be edited on 24fps?
@petersarellas15 күн бұрын
Your timelines frame rate has to be a lower fps than the frame rate of the footage you film, so yes a 24fps timeline with 60 or 120fps footage would give you slow motion

Hi! Desperately searching for your thoughts on tripod vs hi-hat. I see you using hi-hat- wondering if you have a video that goes more into depth on what you use on the field? I am solo shooting for my son’s high school and am trying to figure out what’s best. Would love your help! 😊 (Thank you for what you do- I’m learning sooo much on how to improve my game this year)
@petersarellas15 күн бұрын
Hi there! Don’t think I have a video specifically touching on that but between the two I’d go for a hi-hat. I’m all for mobility and portability and find the smaller package to be less restricting. I generally use a monopod if filming at longer focal lengths or go handheld because I like moving around the field a lot and sometimes have to film from a higher vantage point over sideline video boards, but for high school football I imagine that isn’t going to be an issue for you.
@heartdive14 күн бұрын
Thank you! I think I’ll grab a new monopod!

Exactly the video I’ve been searching for, not sure how I missed this one since I am subscribed!? Thanks so much for all of the info Peter! I’ve found a few other videos on this topic but they were super vague with the breakdowns, and weren’t much help at all, but yours was sooo helpful! One little question, when it comes to covering your music, stock video or vfx subscriptions etc, how do you incorporate those costs into your project fee for editing? If your monthly subscription is $30. Do you just charge an extra $30 to cover that monthly cost? Any insight would be amazing! Keep up the amazing tutorials!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

What about zero degrees shuttle angle for over 50fps. Someone on KZfaq suggests this creates smoother natural motion, and I found this to be true as I shot some sporting action and with 180 degrees it was stuttering
