Master Mikami is my greatest hero. I first trained with him in about 1974 and he sat all my belt tests after. I was blessed to train under him, Master Okazaki and Master Nakayama a couple of times. Karate changed my life. What a great man.

This “kokubun” guy (who do not even deserve capital letter) is not, never was and never ever will be a sensei. He is just a very bad loser who, desperately, seeing that he could never win the fight against Sharp, decided to intentionally hit him seriously, out of the rules, in a cowardly way (hansoku = shameful serious intentional fault) so to be disqualified, because losing within the rules would have been an unbearable embarrassment to kokubun’ petty ego. Shame on this miserable and ignoble kokubun, who never practiced karate within the spirit of budo.

Your are an idiot, Kokubun was already winning with one ipon Sharp was took a dive, I was there at that event and I can tell you that's the only way Sharp could win that to dive.

It's a shitty way to lose/win - particularly in a final. But rules are rules. If blood is drawn it's an automatic Hansoku - trust me, in reality everyone knows who actually "won". Kokubun is an absolute legend!

You should have a sport spirit, so you have to only simulate a hit, but he punched too strong in the opponents head, and in a sport, it is not acceptable by the judges.
@Kevins-Philippine-Retirement
@Kevins-Philippine-Retirement Жыл бұрын
@@adriancotter7368 True Karate kumite is a test of proper technique execution. To score ½ point or 1 point (ippon), the competitor must demonstrate decisively: timing, distance, accuracy and speed(power). The distance has to be demonstrated so decisively that the judges determine correct sundome(within about 2cm)with absolute control of the distance, that the Karateka could have just as easily changed it to be destructive. Excessive contact demonstrated lack of distance control.

@leondavidmunozlozano7973
@leondavidmunozlozano7973 4 жыл бұрын
@yeshuaeselmashiaj6037
@yeshuaeselmashiaj6037 4 жыл бұрын

I commend him for his bravery as a Shotokan guy trying out in the MMA ring. I train in Sierra's in L.I. but don't have the body and age to compete in the ring, unless UFC has a 40+ year old category. He could work on his BJJ more. He almost had it on the ground at one point.

Too bad for the Shotokan guy (at least that's what I think he practices for striking). Advise: put the point fighting aside and study boxing, so that he learns to cover up better after launching his straight. Also, learn to fight in mirror image (south paw vs ortho and vice versa) to stay away from the countering punch, stepping to the blind side. With Shotokan distancing and footwork, lure / frustrate the opponent (as per Machida) then catch him with a combo, not just one attack. Works for me.
