I bet it's an old invention. People were smarter in the past. Only thing we do now is developing old inventions with help of computers. Coming up with these original ideas was much harder.

The big infrastructure projects of the 21st century will be intercontinental mag lev from New York to the West Coast up through Alaska and overseas to and through Eurasia. Air Travel is going bye bye in 2050 w/ obvious exceptions.

What is the point of reference for metric? For imperial, your body is the point of reference. You can use your body to measure real quick, you can’t with metric. You have to have a measuring tape just to even use the metric. So, there is a point of the imperial measurement. I can acknowledge that metric is easier to use, when using tools and conversions.

Nuclear being CO2 neutral is a big scam 👻 You have to build a nuclear power plant first and need some 100.000 tons of concrete (that produces a lot of CO2), Uran ore mining produces really harmful waste (in Wismar / Germany a lot of workers got lung cancer) And those fuel rods last only 3 to five years

Great idea and unfortunately not a new one. The powers that Be, the money changers, don't feel threatened by the degradation of the planet earth. They enjoy pulling the strings of our global societies to influence the mechanisms of human production and thus the value and rate of currency exchange. The fundamental question is, why would these "powers that Be" not be overly concerned about the effects of global environmental sustainability? Common sense would indicate that they believe that the Earth's potential threat to their well-being is manageable for the sake of their own unique circumstances. Another words, they are prepared for whatever eventuality the may come to pass. Knowledge is power, and when it is proprietary knowledge of the means of human survival, in an generally unknown future world, then it is precious knowledge indeed. Stop asking how we are going to save ourselves, and start asking why haven't we already got the "save the earth" programs already in place. Be kind and do good work. 🙃🦂😇🐯🦄💜

The Shanghai one loses millions and millions CONSTANTLY because its so expensive to run and maintain. The world looked at maglev a century ago, and we're just doing it again because we've forgotten all the reasons its a shitty alternative to regular trains. Trains work fine, stop trying to reinvent them!

I'm sorry... I'm not even an engineer and the moment you said "carbon fiber hull" my first thought was, "That won't work well in compression..." A pressure hull like that is going to be getting most of its strength from the epoxy, rather than from the fibers. At which point the flaws in the epoxy that are minor annoyances for holding things in become as bad as casting inclusions would be in a steel hull. I'm not a big believer in the "magic" of bureaucratic testing procedures, and if you look at the history of our technological development, "move fast, break things" *does* tend to be the way we actually make significant advancements in less than a century... But there's a difference between taking risks and being stupid. Ignoring everyone else's safety procedures when you think you have a better understanding of the underlying principles and a better way to check it is one thing. Ignoring them just because they're inconvenient is how you find out why they have them in the first place... If they wanted to be "innovative", I can think of three or four ways to have built strain-gauges into every square inch of the hull itself so that they'd be able to tell immediately if it was weakening with repeated dives. Or use ultrasound to check for flaws after every dive like they do with x-rays for metal castings. Or have the "composite" hull include an inner layer that does well in compression to help the rest hold its shape. Use a balloon for positive buoyancy and just have a steel hull? A liquid nitrogen tank can easily provide over 4000 atmospheres of pressure to blow your ballast tanks/balloon with, and plenty of volume in a small space. There are plenty of ideas that could be used to build a better submersible. Instead they decided to break Evil Overlord List #17: "When I employ people as advisors, I will occasionally listen to their advice."

also this increases sometimes the bullets velocity as all the pressurized air infront of the shell can escape and increase the pressure behind.
