Thanks Paul. Quick question. How do they load and unload petcoke? Big sacks?

It loads just like coal, from a conveyor belt to the ship.

Still a great view. I know it messes you up when they don't stick to the schedule, but maybe there were extenuating circumstances that made it necessary to go early. When we had the kids at home we would always take them down to the Arch (St. Louis) to watch the fireworks on the river. But now, the kids are all out and on their own and we are retired so we just put our lawn chairs out in the middle of the driveway, sit back and watch the show(s). We live in a county outside St. Louis that allows the selling, buying and shooting of fireworks and there is a lake with a lot of common ground a stones throw away so there is no shortage of fireworks to see here. But the professional shows are still the best. Thanks for the video.

Was it the speed that caused the big wake ?

A little of the speed of the ship and also the waves were coming in from the NE, assisting the build up of the wake.

I always enjoy the water level shorts, Paul. It looks like you use 4 cameras. How long does it take to set up, if you don’t mind my asking?
@PaulScinocca2 күн бұрын
Correct on the camera counts, most of the time 4, and one more camera for the audio. If I am not on the bike, it normally goes down to 3 or 2. A full set up takes about 10 Minutes ( using the bike) I normally set up about 15 minutes before the lift, makes it easier to set up without the crowds converving on the Piers. About the same on the take-down.

As a kid living in Duluth in the 50s, many boats were still coal fired….and I remember looking from our back yard tree for the black smoke on the horizon. We could see the smoke before we could see the boat…and we were waiting for dad to come home. He sailed the Lakes in the 40s and 50s.
@PaulScinocca2 күн бұрын
