This is my #1 favorite song ever. The video is amazing too but also very symbolic. Thanks for reacting to it.

I would almost tell you to skip reviewing Whitney live performances post 2004. It’s absolutely painful to watch and hear. Whitney had to leave bc she had nothing left to give this life.

She blessed me by performing Like A Prayer the 1st of December 2015 at the 02. She performed it in honour of AIDS day and it was one of the best days of my life!

Dear Johnny you should react to a Private showcase live made in 2003 at Paris... I swear you couldn't recognize her perfect pitches, it's the closest you'll get as a MTV unplugged 🙏 ❤. I'm sure you'll make a review because it's all what you are looking for kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a9R6rd2Jx9iWqmg.html

In case you haven't, could you react to “Almost doesn't count” by her as well? And then right after (in the same video) react to Kelly Clarkson cover of this song, she did it back in 2022 on her Kellyoke section! Both great great versions!

The worst live performance of Like A Prayer bar none. Shaky and tonally inconsistent delivery all through the song, pitch all over the place, weird diction issues on display for the 1st time, unbelievable breath-control issues as if she's a heavy smoker, awful phrasing, no vertical alignment or ability to sustain a note let alone project a consistent vibrato on ANY of the notes that require it, lack of any control over passages from head to falsetto, no diaphragm to speak of, voice constantly breaking, oh I could go on and on and on... Just absolutely horrible and more importantly - embarrassing. As if she forgot how to sing in the previous couple of years. Amateur hour given by the world's top professional. 🤦 Whether it was the first onset of menopause which took a hard toll on her voice, or a two-year hiatus from live performing, or all those "Evita lessons" that completely ruined her impressive lyrical mezzo-soprano and obliterated her expressive style while giving her insurmountable self awareness and confidence issues, or simply warming up to sing those blasé little melodies from American Lie™ and then having to upscale to performing LAP - it doesn't even matter. With Mirwais in the picture pushing his electro-minimal crap on this masterpiece of a song and Price not yet rising to the level - everything sounded vague and disjointed, under-developed, poorly packaged yet over-produced. Even the venue & the costume have issues. None of this worked on any level. Start of the worst phase of the downfall. This is when even the most hardcore fans realised that there will always be those other "fans" who are willing to scream their heads off to Saint Madonna regardless of whether she's doing anything worthy of praise or is just simply selling crap. THIS is where it all started. She bounced back somewhat on Reinvention Tour but the signs were clearly there that she can no longer count on singing as the essential part of her live performances but would instead start heavily relying on all the other aspects to cover up the shortcomings and use her voice™ as just an "integral" part of "performance art" - which she subsequently started peddling. It was heartbreaking watching it unfold in real-time back then.

She was creating a work of art while writing about her pain of letting go. I don't know if anyone has already mentioned it in the comments but in her book she said she wrote this song as if it was Tommy Mottola saying that to her when they were going through their separation. What she would've wanted to hear him say. In the video there's no butterfly because she IS the butterfly. I really miss this Mariah that would create magic in the 90's.

Don't Forhet About Us is another Mariah masterpiece. People mention The Emancipation of Mimi and automatically think of We Belong Together, in my opinion, DFAU is way better. Like I said, my opinion.

This stunning gig could be considered a general rehearsal to the upcoming Drowned World Tour! M ruled the year 2000/2001 with her MUSIC routine sorrounded by the "awesome" (as you correctly said) Niki & Donna! Very great also the limo-entrance (unfortunately no more featured on the DWT) and the powerful percussions on the song (lucky us featured on the DWT by Ron Powell through the whole set-list)!

Will you ever do a reaction to Kelly Clarkson latest album? I know you did a couple of songs, but you really need to do the whole thing and also add "The Dance" which was a tribute to Garth Brooks. Compare his and hers, please 🙏

this album had to grow on me but its a fun, free-spirited, but also at times emotional record. i think mariah wanted it to be more lighthearted, and it is of its time but very mariah-ed so in that case, not really

So this is actually the Angel's Advocate album version (the remix album to MOAIA , that was scrapped by the label) the original album track is Just Mariah . The remix to HATE U is awesome 💯 There was a Song called 100% which she wrote for the soundtrack to the motion picture, Precious, in which she played a social worker. It was also goin to be on the remix album but it was then used for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

I cry whenever I hear this song bc of the significance of it in relation to her personal struggles and it being one of her final singles. The only thing that makes me slightly uncomfortable is the fact that it was written by R Kelly, who as you know is in prison for sex crimes.

this was a great promo tour, & this was the best stop on it. unfortunately by this point American Life was all but dead in the US since the single flopped hard on release and M was in the throes of 'major American backlash #2' (topped only by the Sex/Erotica/Body Of Evidence trio 10 years prior) cuz of the NEVER EVEN RELEASED/SEEN AT THAT POINT video! just as an aside i HATED her look here. this was when Madonna took on the persona of 'Mrs Ritchie'. ugh. She sang later that 'he' stole her shine.. sadly i think she gave it away to him quite freely for a while. She got it back for COADF though for sure! thanks for another great reaction 😉

Guy Richie… ugh… even if Sean actually did assault her (and she says that rumour wasn’t true) he was still a better husband than Guy was.
