I Live In Rome, GA And I'm Sorry To Say This But... You Got The Story Wrong What Actually Happened Was: BNSF 6746 Was Leading NS 283 When It Collided With 2 Of NS 732's Derailed Coal Cars (At MP 84.0 Aka Lindale), Which Ripped Off The Brake Lines On 6746. It Decoupled From Its Train And Ran Away, Then It Hit NS 9867 (Who Was Leading 29A) Head On At MP 79.5

Yea It seams like this heritage unit was sent for a repant but the workers didn’t have the right kind of pant for it so I know its sound that they put it back to looking like a regular Amtrak engine scheme instead but at least this engine heritage scheme has been saved as 164 is naw on 184 replacement for IV scheme naw on 164 these naw days

The east bound crew did not put their train into emergency & did not slow down before impact. Neither crew members responded To multiple attempts to be reached. Both crew members parished. The other crew was contacted, DID put their train into emergency and did slow before impact but the female crew member did not jump so she parished as well. This was deeply tragic & completely preventable.
