At 1.58 how did you add edge loops to only that face and not the rest of the model?
@Regoliste13 күн бұрын
It's a hidden cut that's revealed in the extended version of this tutorial: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/edOWjdqelrW1kpc.html But basically with the window selected in edit mode I separate it from the rest of the mesh so I can add edge loops on it's own.

I need to learn how to make my own assets because anytime I try and use any model for free it physically hurts me for some reason. I also can’t fill the entire description with links since I’d use too many assets.
@Regoliste13 күн бұрын
This topic of 'asset-using' you bring up engages me and I'd love to share my thoughts with you on the matter over the course of my creative experience. For a long while I could say that my 3d projects consisted of like 20% model work and 80% assets, but that sentence doesn't really mean anything. Comparing manual work to external work in a given project and going on about a 'zero-external output' workflow is personally a gray area for me. Technology is constantly evolving, and the project that needed me to build from scratch 4 years ago can easily be achieved through emerging external tools and resources today. These days I transform external output with my own manual output to produce creations. I used to have that same 'start from scratch' ideology long ago, and to an extent 'manual' work like building up a scene solo or modelling is a significant skill one should maintain and strengthen, which also build independence while being original, but past that, there's no reason not to take advantage and embrace the newest resources, assets and tools that exist today to improve one's workflow or creative result. I consider myself more of a composition artist, and I like it that way, I enjoy the process of compiling a final cinematic scene much more than the focus on creating everything myself. And in the end I think most of my creative endeavors retains enough finalized originality that justifies the external 'help' I utilized to achieve it. After all an artist simply interprets ideas/concepts/resources, then transform/imprint style and finally represent the creation through a new perspective. To give some technical answers, take this Spider-Man project for example, a rendered scene that was composed of almost entirely assets that originated online: The Spidey model, city scans, addons and rooftops and so on. But there was also a ton of sheer manual layering, modelling, keyframing, retargeting, texturing, compiling and problem solving by me that went into transforming those resources into a final original shot, so it ends up as this grey area of mixing and mashing different tools and assets with your own intuition. Now could I have built every single thing from scratch? Could I have painted my own textures? Could I have mastered rig animations? Could I have modelled the hundreds of city props for a 15 second shot? Not without drastic compromises, and that's why that ideology doesn't work, there's no integral benefit to compromising your art and yourself, not even for pride. I'm glad to be past that, and I trust you'd be much better off creating art constructively and efficiently as well. We're living in a creative industry that specializes in different creative aspects, including the sharing of artistic assets both paid and free, I am personally grateful for the mass of artists that have the generosity to share their work knowing they'd be be of use to projects of strangers and me, and it doesn't have to hurt to accept these gifts and resources. Now I think crediting the assets use is a deeper topic but generally that shouldn't scare you as well. Think of the end credits of a movie or video game. They list thousands of names tied to work inputs that went into creating the thing, and there's a sense of appreciation for it all. Crediting assets is similar and you could easy list the dozens of assets in a google docs sheet and link that instead under creative commons attribution. I hope this little thoughtful rant provided some new insight into the use of assets and I wish you well in your creative journey.
@noahbanana752613 күн бұрын
@@Regoliste I agree with you completely. I am still trying to convince myself that it’s ok, but I’ll compromise eventually. I’ll probably do the google doc thing you said too. Thanks so much for your input!

@Regoliste13 күн бұрын
Hey thanks! Haha speak for yourself but I have no interest in spending weeks stressing over custom run animations or painting my own textures! I have plenty of fun and creativity in the manual layering, modelling, keyframing, retargeting, texturing, compiling and problem solving that goes into the final shot.
@spooderkid676013 күн бұрын
Who said animating is stressful? It's the fun of creating whole worlds and moving them forward that intises you to keep moving, thats the fun of animation. Not having ai do it for you.
@Regoliste13 күн бұрын
Ahh well hey it's definitely fun sometimes, but I'm not an animator, or texture designer. I consider myself a composition artist, and I absolutely like it that way, I enjoy the process of compiling a final cinematic scene much more than the focus on creating everything myself. Personally, there's no inherent reason not to embrace the newest resources, assets and tools that exist today to improve one's workflow or creative result. I think it's a little deeper than 'having ai do it for you'. The ethically trained locomotion datasets and midjourney's niche building descriptions are only a small piece of the much bigger picture. I know this short little video overlooks a lot and for the sake of infotainment is edited to be light and easy but my 43 min alternate tutorial goes on to show a lot more on my manual efforts. I've seen your recreation of my last spider-man vid, you've probably improved a ton since then
@spooderkid676012 күн бұрын
@@Regoliste Yeah you're right dude. It's a lot deeper than just ai. And yeah when it comes to 3D everyone has they're different profession. And I've improved a lot since I made that. Keep up the good work dude!
