I still don’t get why people are so up in arms about this. Thrall never cheated. The rules of the Mak’gora are clear: there are no rules except those the combatants agree to. It’s a test of honor as much as it is a test of skill and strength. If one party declares “Mak’gora!” and doesn’t lay out ground rules at the start, then it’s anything goes, no holds barred, magic included. The only thing that seems to be strictly forbidden is the use of poison, probably because it’s considered dishonorable.

Cheated or not, it doesn't change the fact that's a cowardly move by Thrall using the elements when know Garrosh can't defend himself against that. If you're going to kill him handle it like an orc.
@Skollshorties
@Skollshorties 5 күн бұрын
Garrosh wanted Thrall to use his elemental powers against him just like in their first duel. Thrall didn't want to use it because he was hoping he could spare Garrosh. But Garrosh was a lunatic that needed to be put down. Also shamanism is heavily orcish. So that was very orcish.
@jmcghane
@jmcghane 4 күн бұрын
@Skollshorties Garrosh needed to be put down, but if Thrall was going to use his powers in the first place, then why even bother doing the Mak'gora. The rules didn't say that Thrall couldn't use shamanistic powers, but let's be for real. Everyone knows that Mak'gora basically means: 1v1, no armor, and with no help of any kind, which means no spell weilding powers.
@Skollshorties
@Skollshorties 4 күн бұрын
@@jmcghane That isn't really correct. Mak'gora the rules are set by the two fighters. Armor can be allowed. Magic can be allowed. And weapons can be allowed. It has to be otherwise stated what isn't allowed. The whole point of this video was detailing what their rules were. Which adds up to their past Mak'gora in Wrath where armor and spells were permitted.

@Skollshorties When Sylvanas fought Saurfang, did Sylvanas cheated, or (if you saw the Warcraft movie), did Gul'dan cheated against Durotan? If your answer is no, then Thrall did nothing wrong.
@Skollshorties
@Skollshorties 4 күн бұрын
@@jmcghane Saurfang and Sylvanas' duel didn't have any established rules and Thrall warned Saurfang he'd lose because of Sylvanas' untold power. So no cheating. As for Gul'dan and Durotan's duel it's only in the movie's canon and not canon in WoW's remotely. So it's a void point here. So yeah Thrall did no wrongs here.

@KatmeisterCNV
@KatmeisterCNV 4 күн бұрын
@@Skollshorties That's a fair point but my only issue is regarding the concept of unreliable sources per se. Either a source is reliable or it isn't, it can't be both. In my opinion the chronicles as a whole anthology isn't, and giving credit to some things and not to others may be perceived as "cherry picking". Also, Chronicles chapter4 might be the one with more blatant mistakes/conflicting information since it is relating to a period of warcraft's history that every player can still experience in-game, and it is unaceptable that someone allowed it to be released without any seemingly competent proof reading. Btw no hate tho, much respect towards your opinion and work, I just think chronicles shouldnt be used as evidence to anything lorewise at this point.

Like Anduin, Thrall's guilt is the obstacle that limits his power over the elements. The guilt over maybe not having to use the elements to destroy Garrosh, but the mistake of promoting Garrosh as Warchief that weighs heavily on him.

I never understood while everyone claims thrall cheeted. - The only source that claims you cant use magic in makgora is from a movie that was not sticking to the established canon in many cases, but for some reason when it came to makgora rules everyone is like YEP its in the movie so its canon. - Thrall was already in makgora vs garrosh in wotlk and he was using elements + weapon in front of the whole orgrimmar and nobody said anything about cheating then. - There is a comic (canon) that had makgora duel where they used magic.
