Kasparov could barely beat Karpov by more than half a point or a point after of so many draws. Bobby Fischer destroying his opponents by 6+ points. Bobby #1 is classics cheese Then Magnus as #2 in the whole history of chess. but overall , taking into account blitz, bullet, semi-rapid , Magnus is #1. This is thank to the computer age. We need to play Chess960 instead. Because pure memorisation is over killing. The move accuracy of Bobby Fisher is phenomenal, a guy who took some notes in his tiny little notebook. The most beautiful style of chess , that paralyses the opponent, such a way that he cannot move a single peace without destroying himself is Alpha Zero , sadly. When Asha Zero plays , I realised how backward we the human are and how beautiful we are because we just realise that the biggest resistance that we put against each other to over some the “calculation stage” is using instinct, creativity , preparation, common sense (what is worth to calculate and what is not) , experience , psychological warfare (Magnus is good at it by coming late and arranging his pieces , or Bobby Fischer putting some funny conditions) , sacrifices for long term advantages (like positional , or blocking/closing the game, where knight could be superior to a rook ). So yea, Alpha Zero is the most beautiful chess player : he don’t just win with shear calculation , but with the most beautiful humiliating style. So final conclusion : #1 : Alpha Zero (because it is lie a human playing with creativity , style, beauty and psychological presence to humiliate you and scare the shit out of you). #2 Booby Fisher (sometime Magnus becoming champions in classical chess , assuming both are playing at the same age and same era ). # 3 Magnus (although globally , I think Magnus would be better against Bobby in bullet , blitz or rapid chess ).

In Lie detector, Magnus was caught lying when he said Kasparov. Magnus is the greatest by far , and in classical chess I will put Bobby Fisher above him. But globally (taking into account blitz , bullet and classical) Magnus has a slight edge.

I personally think Lasker was the GOAT (2nd world champion). By far the longest reign of any champion, had a deep knowledge of his opponents psychology (he would sometimes deliberately play weaker moves to exploit his opponents' playing style) and he did a bunch of cool stuff outside of chess to top it all off. He was only beaten by capablanca when he was in his late 50's or early 60's i think it was. So he was only beaten well beyond his prime.
