You and your friends should come up to Oregon at the end of August. Surf City Sound off Aug17 and 18th
@DaBadNewz6 сағат бұрын
I REALLY want to start traveling out to meets and competitions, and Oregon would be a great first step! (I’ve only ever driven straight through other than a night in Grants Pass). Unfortunately I work almost exclusively on the weekends, so making it to events is tough without a pretty advanced warning (I’m working both of those days already). Is there an organizer up there I can follow on IG to learn about upcoming events? Btw, I really appreciate that suggestion! I 100% plan on doing something like that eventually

I'm new to this competing myself. I got into it after getting a crazy demo from a friend with 60k watts on 6 platinum resilient sounds 15s. It's so hard to explain the nervousness I had. I built a 6th order in my crown vic. 2x15v3s on a bass 8k taramps. 45ah yinlong and a 240 mechman alt. I also didn't know what I was doing. They let me sweep to see peak. I peaked at 35 hz. So I hit a 150.8. Took 1st place in my class. M3 class 3K TO 6K. I clamped 4400 watts . Next weekend at my 2nd contest I upped the voltage to 15.8 and hit a 151.8 at 35 hz 4060 watts. Also 1st place again!! I'm currently upgrading sealing and deadening. Imma sub to your channel. Love the way you edit your videos my man!! Congrats on your build!!
@DaBadNewz8 сағат бұрын
Damn you came out swinging! And I kinda wish I would have swept in the lanes just to double check that I couldn’t ran it a lil lower (frequency wise). I really wanna know what I do at about 30Hz. I know that sealing and deadening is gonna make a big difference for you! And thanks for the sub man! I really appreciate the support from the basshead community

Great first competition. I used to compete in Street Beat 1 which is a 45 second run with Music. You average it out. You can have 1 12", 2 10" or 3 8" subs. I had 1 JL 10W7 on 1 JL 1000 1. I averaged 144.4 on music even though I built my system for Sound Quality. I could do 43Hz bursts of 147.6. I miss competing.

did you build that system to just listen to and you hit 145 if you did id say that pretty good now if you built it to run in bass comp i think you could do better probly need you own meter do a frequency sweep see ware you get the highest number on what frequency then port your box to that frequency still did good back 30 years ago my first time i had 2 12s old school rockford powers on to kenwood 1000s amps and did a 144 but i was tuned low 30 years later me and my friend built a box and did the hole sytem and box in 2 days but i was tuned at 33hertz i had 3 wolfram 12s and a 12k taramp md ran at 1.3 ohm's in a 2002 buick lasber in the trunk and did a 150 its still a fun time tho probly could of did way better if i ported to hit a higher frequency
@DaBadNewz18 сағат бұрын
You know what, I never thought about it like that, but I really like that! I definitely built it just to cruise around slappin and having a good time, and you right, for that purpose, doing a 145 is still pretty decent. I’ll still compete in the future, but I don’t think I will ever do this strictly for competition. I always want my builds to look good, but still hold their own on the meter. And yea I was only even able to hit that because I played at my cabin’s resonant frequency. In the future I wanna hit that 145 at like 20Hz!
@soldjahboy20 сағат бұрын

@soldjahboy5 сағат бұрын
@@DaBadNewz Hell yeah, well I feel you though. I did a 142db at 46Hz (two 12" subs on 3k) and I wasn't real happy... I do a 151.7 now at 32Hz at the head rest (two 15" subs on 5k) and I'm finally happy with it. If you want to get real low, tune for 20hz and put like four 15"s in a big ass enclosure with a shiitload of port area. Even go a 4th or 6th order and do a sub 20 tune on a mid 30's tune on the chambers... my man you will blow way past 145 real fast :D You obviously take pride in your installation, it's clean af bro. Looks real good and even though you peak in the high 40's there's nothing wrong with that at all. Plenty of great music to play in those ranges, but I feel you... when you just want them low lows you will stop at almost nothing :D

I don’t think it made it to the final video, but the first peak when we metered my car off camera was 38 (which would make sense since I aimed for a tune of 30 when I built the box). I ain't trying to be that guy for anyone; be careful with permanent hearing loss. I have it and I tried not to expose myself too much (but my cruise volume tends to creep towards 120 dB to this day and I get warnings from devices to stahp it) Don't be stupid like me; ensure you will hear people talk clearly when you get old, and if you don't want to hear a sea of crickets pulsing like you are in a forest of them most of the time ... limit your exposure, wear protection, yada yada, you are responsible adults, figure out what is safe for you (or its a video!)
@DaBadNewzКүн бұрын
Nah I don’t mind that at all man, that’s just looking out for people. And tbh, I definitely more than know better. I worked on aircraft in the military (where hearing protection is stressed really heavily), and am actually an audio engineer in my regular life. Which means my hobby is actually hazardous to my career, (but to be fair, my career itself is hazardous to my career, since I work a lot of live shows). I’ve even had to study how the ear works as part of my audio education! All that to say: you’re absolutely right! Being mindful of the long term consequences is definitely important! @@DaBadNewz I got a question, maybe its crazy, but you see a lot of things at comps ... are people doing sets of subs dedicated to specific sections of frequencies? say a 32" doing subsonics, couple 18"s doing 20-30Hz, 12"s doing 30-40; and so on? thanks for replying and being a good hearted human out there and spreading love in the community/world; greatly appreciated. Even if I'm having a bad day; if I click I won't bring that with me, you don't deserve it, otherwise I'll wait til later. Trying to get motivated to work on my project; hesitant to add the amp, cap, sub without having the money to do any dampening and already noticed a little bit of rattle with the stock system. @zakuraayame5091 not quite that detailed for subs. The most I usually see is a larger sub for <60Hz, then a midbass woofer for 60-300 or so, then usually some 6.5s doing 250~4k, maybe some horns doing around 1~5k, and tweeters from around 4k+ That’s not MANY folks that are really separating it out like that, but for the ones that do, that’s your typical full range setup, but obviously there can be all kinda configurations. For me I’m just gonna add stuff as I notice weak spots (that’s why I have some midbass speakers sitting in the garage right now!) And I appreciate every comment I get man so I’m always gonna try and reply to the people who take the time to watch my videos. And you never know until you try! Thanks! Tbh I'm pretty sure I was able to do both doors and panels with about a single box...maybe 2 (of the bulk packs)...but if I'm being completely honest, I'm not entirely sure. I know in total this car has like 7-10 boxes in it now. Pretty sure I did all 4 doors (and panels) using 1 box last time. So maybe another half box for this additional coverage.

Also keep in mind though, you DON’T need to do 100% coverage the way I did. That’s overkill for most people. Even just a single box will get you pretty far if you use it to hit the biggest areas/worst offenders first. But if it’s in the budget, it doesn’t hurt to have extra (it SUCKS being 60% thru a project but 100% through your deadening)

The short answer is that you want the meter to be at the place where the waves are converging the most (and therefore at their loudest), which is in a more enclosed space. For demos you want pure wind most of the time, and the velocity of the air is just higher where there is a port/window. There's a lot of technical sciency shit behind it, that I am nowhere near qualified to talk about, but that's the basic idea. The best thing is to just play a tone and try shit out, because what works best in one car/build might not necessarily be the best thing in another car/build. You can see during Clay's run (around 6:05), he actually opens his door during his run to watch the SPL meter change in real time.

I'm at this same stage bro I almost metered at the last show but when I got out there I felt like the little guy lol I probably have three times the money invested as some of those guys and they were blowing me away needless to say I didn't compete YET!!!! Just had a team reach out "TBO" Team Bass Outlaws TN chapter and asked me to join you know I did that was my goal to join a team and now I'm trying to get my setup right I'm going to get a box for the trunk so I can drop to a lower class and put a good 8-10k on the Tyrant 15 get the doors right and everything sound deadened and then I will try I want to break a 150 before I jump in the lanes now that I'm on a team I have people to help me I'm excited to learn everything and see just how loud I can get

I definitely know that feeling! Pulling up n then backing out lol. But yea having the team support is gonna be a huge help. But damn a 150 the first time competing would be impressive! And with that much power you might just do it! Definitely let me know how that goes. Thanks for checking this one out man!

Damn I guess I should have included a link to some test tones! That will depend on how you listen to your music. If you primarily play off your phone, you can just search on spotify or youtube (not the best option, but if that’s how you listen anyway, it will cater your tune to your actual use). If you use mostly USBs or something directly connected to your head unit, then I would download from a reputable source (there are a bunch online, like from Audio Dynamics, just search “1khz test tone.” They will have a dB in the title (0, -5, -10, etc). I would use 0 for the safest option (wont risk any clipping), but sometimes -5 or -10 will get you more of the thump you want (just keep an eye/ear out for clipping)

There going to rattle your box apart lol 😂

if it wasn't for the several boxes of sound deadening throughout the car, you're probably right. These things scream!

I can’t wait to install my 8s to pair with them. Gonna have all the midbass!

You're supposed to cut out a little square hole in the bottom to allow for a ported enclosure. I don't mess with them but when someone wants them, that's how I and many othe's do it an dit sounds a lot better. But that Def Bonce will do ya right! I run one of their Avatar 15's in mine with a JP63 amp.

I’ve been super surprised by how many people have suggested that! And it definitely seems reasonable to think it would have a beneficial impact, but tbh, I just wanted to test them as is (and since that wasn’t a manufacturer recommendation, it wasn’t part of the test. But it’s definitely something worth coming back to). And yea the Deaf Bonces have been treating me very nicely! Still actually have a couple 8s to install, but so far I’m very happy. Thanks for checking out the video and leaving a suggestion!
