What if the Jamaica and Myrtle lines were de-interlined? -The section from Myrtle to Marcy can be replaced by a 4-track line with the former as a bi-level express station and the latter as a typical express station over the bus terminal. -The Williamsburg Bridge’s trackways can be widened for a 4-track line. While it will inevitably result in lane reduction, it should be less of a problem with congestion pricing. -The abandoned northbound trackways on the Nassau Line can be reactivated so the express tracks would end at Chambers as per the intended layout.

The E line was never assigned R46s, despite them being at Jamaica Yard, where the line lives, until the CBTC swap in 2019. Before the swap, an R46 appeared on the E if that was the best way to maintain the line’s schedule, which rarely happened.
