I want a maverick XL because I want a cheap, fuel efficient truck. But all the dealers have these trucks marked up $1500-$3500 above msrp. Makes no sense to get a maverick XL for $33,000-$34,000 out the door! 😵‍💫😵‍💫

@@douglas7260 I hear you there. Some of the dealer mark-ups are ridiculous these days. I've heard when you special order one that you have a better chance of getting it for whatever the price was at the time of the order. That way some of the expensive extra features can be avoided too. Best wishes on your future purchase! 🙂👍

Interesting, I wouldn't have guessed that. As a reference to put size into perspective in my own mind I compared the Maverick to my previous pickups, 99 and 07 Ford Ranger's ext. cabs. In round numbers the Maverick's WB is -5" shorter, length is -4" shorter and is +2.5" wider.

@@ern48 Thanks for your comment. Nice comparison! Good to know. 👍 I've found that the standard base model full-size pickup trucks increased beyond the length of the Maverick by the late 1990s. Prior to that, the extended cab and long bed versions surpassed the Maverick by a small margin. If you're curious, you can find more details and comparisons on www.cargurus.com/ and on www.caranddriver.com/ Have a great day! 👍

Ok, first a Maverick is not a real truck. Second, who drives a real truck to get great gas milage? You own a truck because you can carry and tow heavy stuff. If you want great milage, buy a Toyota Camry or something.

You do you. We don’t need the lecture on what is or isn’t. The government and manufacturer definitions are probably better that yours. Your definition seems to pinned to your ego and feelings. You don’t know what people buy trucks for. You only know what *you* bought a truck for. How many people actually tow and haul with the trucks they own? Give us the stats since you claim to know all. From what I see on the streets, a large group of people likely aren’t doing much towing or hauling. They like the size and looks but the bed is empty. Keep in mind, your opinion ends at the tip of your nose, thus are relevant to you. For the rest of us, it’s largely immaterial. The fact is, this is more truck than many actually need for personal use.
@rickgarcia8481
@rickgarcia8481 10 күн бұрын
Pretty stupid comment, different people require different needs. I personally don't understand why people try to tell people that a certain car or truck is not practical because they think that way. There are alot of people that aren't needing to tow massive trailers, maybe they just want a truck like this for hauling small loads and don't want to buy an suv to do it.
@c.a.r.s.carsandrelevantspecs
@c.a.r.s.carsandrelevantspecs 8 күн бұрын
@@rickgarcia8481 I've read an excellent article that reinforces many of your points. I especially like the section heading toward the middle of the article that states "Once upon a time, every truck was Maverick-sized." Here is the link: www.insidehook.com/lifestyle/americans-obsessed-wrong-trucks-ford-maverick I really like the way it presents these facts: "It might shock you to find out that the compact Maverick’s 200 inches of overall length puts it smack dab in the middle of a 1985 F-150 short bed (192 inches) and long bed (208 inches), while its 72.6 inches of width give it a broader countenance than its ostensibly full-size predecessor." I did my own research and found that, compared to a 1985 F-150 with standard cab and short bed, my Maverick has greater dimensions in wheelbase, length, and width. Additionally, many other stats are greater because it is a modern vehicle. Granted, the bed is not huge and the towing capacity is less than the 7,500 lbs of that classic F-150, but I personally don't need either of those features for my daily driver. Here is a link to a humorous video from Engineering Explained that presents excellent facts about the Maverick and includes some jokes about the "truck/not a truck" points of view. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ecmglLZot7WRoZ8.htmlsi=o0cFJC9K5y0GwJmH

It's a pickup truck. I've used mine to haul bags of sand, bricks, mulch, scrap steel, brush, etc. Saying the Maverick isn't a pickup is like saying a Honda Odyssey isn't a van. There is no rule that a pickup has to be built on a frame.

I have a 2023 Maverick AWD Lariat up here in Canada and agree with all your findings. Evaporated fuel is trapped in the charcoal canister. The system is sealed to prevent polluting fuel vapors from entering the atmosphere so fuel evaporation should not be part of the equation but fuel volume changes with temperature. It expands with heat so the vehicle will perceive slightly more fuel in the tank on a hot day as compared to a cool night. My Maverick hasn't used any oil in my 5,000km of ownership. I changed the oil at about 4,000km. The 2.0l Ecoboost is a great engine and will go many trouble free miles if properly maintained. I think you made a good choice. I have a few family members with the older version of the 2.0l Ecoboost and they have not had any mechanical issues in as much as 250,000kms. I too decided not to order the sunroof. My last truck, 2019 f150, had a sun roof and it dad no problems in four years of ownership but I would like to keep the Maverick for a long time so I didn't want to tempt fate in the long term with a sun roof.

I have a 2024 XLT AWD. First road trip at about 200 miles on the OD and a 400 plus trip using 87 octane got 27.1 MPG I read the manual about octane and decided to try 91. Next road trip of 800 miles with 1900 on the OD got 31.4 MPG. WOW. Not sure with the price difference between the 2 octane that it is a good financial decision, but in hot weather if the engine is happier I'll go with it until fall. BTW, no "eco" mode on the AWD model.

Sure it's great that there's less to break and go wrong, but after a few years with adaptive cruise control, I could never go back. When you do a lot of highway driving in heavy traffic it really takes away a lot of fatigue. Of course having REAL keyless entry of just touching inside the handle, having it unlock, and then just getting in pressing a button and driving off is a game changer. Again I'm just spoiled by these 2 features but as much as I drive I don't think I could consider buying a vehicle without them.,
@c.a.r.s.carsandrelevantspecs
@c.a.r.s.carsandrelevantspecs 17 күн бұрын
I hear you. That makes a lot of sense. After having a car with adaptive cruise control for a few years and doing a moderate amount of highway driving, that is one feature I missed pretty quickly. I will say I like having more of a constant speed with my basic cruise control now -- without unnecessary slowing around some curves -- but adaptive cruise control was certainly nice to have. I have noticed that the computer reading is usually about 1.5 to 2.0 miles per gallon too high. I calculate my mpg the old fashioned way at the pump by doing the math. My truck is front wheel drive, so it gets about one mile per gallon better than the all wheel drive. The truck drives and handles very good. I agree with you on the gas mileage.
