FOR REAL! I feel like the day drags on but the weeks go by fast and then I'm disappointed in my lack of getting stuff done! Lol I am trying to put my design files into an "in progress" folder to make those easier to find... but then months later I find them again 🤣
@isobelledger7 күн бұрын
You're speaking my adhd language <3 I totally feel you. I'm desperate to start a business but just can't... start? I keep 'learning' or 'preparing' and just struggle to do it at all... the 'research stage' is my perpetual state of being unfortunately. I can't stand feeling like I'm bad at it. I also struggle to try again after the first try. That's probably why there's so many months between my youtube videos. I am finding it to be an overall negative in my life too tbh, not to be a debbie downer as well hahah. But I just feel like I'm simply not achieving what I 'should' be able to and am not good at letting myself off the hook even when it's clearly a symptom. Instagram tries very hard to show the positives but it's just so hard in my experience. I would love to hear people's positives as well, because I have a similar problem with the 'can't remember the things you've done in a day' feeling so I feel like I have never made any progress - but also that I can't think of what it is that's a positive. There probably are some they just don't seem to exist to me most of the time hah. Went off on a bit of an essay there - sorry. But, I suppose that's kinda on brand XD Loved your video, and the clips of your art - wow!! So beautiful <3
@JordynAlisonDesigns7 күн бұрын
I think the hard part with the research phase is that it's fun! It's hard to remind yourself to just.. start. KZfaq is the ONLY habit I can think of in the last few years that I've stuck with. And all I can take from that is, that's what I'm supposed to be doing. I need to keep working on finding things like that, that make me excited and stop forcing the things that are dreadful!! (but then the flip side is that, some things you have to do because they make money so that part is reallyyy hard for me to just suck it up and do it!!) If there's anything I can help you with in starting your business let me know! Sometimes all it takes is an outsider to help you reset your thinking! ♡
@isobelledger7 күн бұрын
@@JordynAlisonDesigns yea i get so caught up in learning all the things hahah I've found that too, I have done so many things that never see the light of day after the 'research, buy and try 1 time' stage, but I always come back to KZfaq. I genuinely enjoy it! Thank you so much for the offer - I'm thinking something that's to do with writing is my best bet and have been looking at copywriting a lot, but I'm currently in a funded course on Digital Marketing that I'm enjoying so we'll see what comes out from exploring that and how I can create a writing business from that. Still kinda up in the air, or it could be that I just am unable to make a decision ahah

Btw, the blender is in fact an eraser, not a blender. Don't use it to blend colors. It won't work. It will lift the colors instead. Just use the lighter color to blend it with the darker one. Apply the lighter color, then the darker, then blend them by using the lighter color again on the spot where they meet.
@JordynAlisonDesignsАй бұрын
Oooh good tip, thank you! That could be why I was struggling 🤣
@Oozaru85Ай бұрын
I wanted to get those Effimeso markers, since they are very affordable. But I have seen several reviews where people say these markers cause yellowing on the previous page when using them in sketchbooks/coloring books. So I bought a set fof 168 brush markers by a brand named Chotune on A-zon instead. Those are really great so far and I just paid €50 for them. Ohuhu's are too expensive for my taste. Especially since they don't have refills for all their colors (just ~50 colors are covered so far). Some people also say their colors are very inconsistent. Meaning, when you rebuy a certain marker, the color doesn't match your previous one even tho it's supposed to be the same color. That's why I'm staying away from Ohuhu for now.
@JordynAlisonDesignsАй бұрын
Ohh that's good to know! I have a cheaper brand that has done the yellowing on pages too. But they were a third of the price of the Ohuhu so I can't really be too bad. I haven't heard of Chotune, that's good to know!
@Oozaru85Ай бұрын
@@JordynAlisonDesigns No, Ohuhus dont cause that yellowing, afaik. The thicker ones dont at least. I think ArtJourney made a video on that, where she tested several different brands and how much- or if at all - they yellow. According to her research the slim Ohuhu alcohol markers cause yellowing. The Honolulu dont.
@JordynAlisonDesignsАй бұрын

Thank you for this video and the time it took to do it! I found it to be really interesting. I'm not a seller but have been thinking about what to do with my skills now that I'm retired. I have used my degree in Graphic Design and Marketing for nearly 30 years. Between all the online classes and KZfaq videos claiming anyone can make $1k a day, there is a ton of junk being sold. I've seen the same designs on Etsy being sold by numerous people. There's so much trademark infringement. I've noticed an unbelievable amount of typos and grammatical errors. I recently ran across a large group of people asking how to use Canva so they can sell things on Etsy. If anything, it seems more people than ever are trying to make money online. It seems that the ones making money are those claiming you can make a lot of money working very few hours if you take their classes. I think your survey shows that's not the case. Good on you for reaching out to others and getting some good information on what's really happening for many small business graphic designers. It truly gives me a lot to think about. Hope your feeling better and your camping trip was great!!

I have been ordering stickers from Sticker Mule for a long time and I just want to add my experience with them. Sticker Mule sent me a wrong order (someone else's) and they were not able to replace my stickers saying that it was too large of an order for them to fulfilled in time for my show. (I had an extra week until my show, but they still weren't able to do it in time). I wasn't happy with their customer service. Also their hologram stickers tend to have a big line that goes through it. They replaced them for me before admitting it as their fault, but the last time, they said their paper is like that and didn't replace them for me. Also one time, their hologram stickers had debossed dust/sand prints. They said that their machine needed to be cleaned and they did replace those for me, but it happened 2-3 times.
@JordynAlisonDesignsАй бұрын
Ohhhh yikes! Thank you for sharing your experience. I had good customer support when I had one issue, but I'm assuming that as they've grown it's made their rules get tighter around what they'll refund.
@purinpatАй бұрын
@@JordynAlisonDesigns I just felt like they treat small orders better because it’s easier to replace and they get more good reviews. For the large order that I placed for my trade show, I did end up getting my refunds in the end, but it was a lot of back and forth emails. I didn’t have the merchandise for my event. It was upsetting because I felt like they had enough time to reprint them or at least let the other person know so we can maybe send the correct stickers to each other. (I got stickers for a wedding event). I didn’t mind paying for expedited shipment and I’m sure the other customer wanted their stickers too. Thanks for doing this video. I was looking for alternatives, but I wanted it to be somewhat consistent with the stickers that I already have, so it was very helpful.
@JordynAlisonDesignsАй бұрын
@@purinpat Yeah that's really crappy, because now two people are upset. They should have sent you shipping labels to ship to the other person and it'd be fixed sooner! I'm sorry you dealt with that. Hopefully one of these other brands will be a good replacement for you!
