But fully grown men swimming in the female races is totally fine 🙃 Make it make sense.

Rules are rules, they don't make sense at all sometimes but we are meant to follow them. Why do you go into another lane when you know the race isn't clearly finished others are racing? Dumb.

Technicality. He finished the race. So he was not racing. Therefore not in the race as a competitor at that time.

It's obviously a well-intended rule but my guess is if the onsight officials didn't DQ him, the conference or the NCAA would have. It's crap but that's the way it goes.

Rules are rules, hard decision but a right one. Doesn’t matter if someone finished or no, if he was on emotions or else. Rules are rules.
@thebeanmeister60466 сағат бұрын
yeah rules are rules but this is very clearly not following the intention of the rule. Yeah on paper it says not to cross lanes but that is meant to stop interference, but both racers were finished with the race and this caused no interference, so this shouldn't be a disqualification. Also not every rule ever made is perfect 100% of the time. This rule is god awful and should be changed if it causes something like this where almost everybody involved is incredibly angry about it. Nodody was happy that this happened except maybe those judges laughing to themselves because they just ruined somebody's career for fun.

this!!!

this is the kind of narrow mindedness that allowed people to "just do their job" and "follow the rules" in nazi germany. completely different context and consequences, same mindset. NOT. OK.
@ksekatorКүн бұрын
actually, no need to go that far as to Nazi Germany, as this shit with corrupted rules/laws or rule misuse is prominent in many countries till this day, especially in mine, where laws are being rewritten specifically to persecute people for nonconformity and people are fine with killing other people and committing war crimes, cause they are just ”following orders”. So yeah, this attitude, ”rules are rules”, triggers me immensely

Had a similar experience recently with track. I live in Oregon, so our state finals are at Hayward Field, which is really cool on one hand but it also means you have the most strict, uptight, fun hating judges ever. This year in the 4x400, the winning 4A team was DQed for celebrating after the race, the best 5A team in the state was DQed at districts for accidentally making contact with another athlete, the fastest 5A team in heat 2 was DQed for stepping a fraction of an inch out of their lane, it just went on and on. I don't understand what is wrong with sport judges, they seem so happy to make kids who've spent years working towards something miserable by taking it all away over the most menial crap.
@ksekatorКүн бұрын
wtf, that's literally insane has any of these cases been addressed in some sort of committee or court? I can't believe there actually is a rule grounding for DQ for celebrating after the race
