I may have missed it in the podcast, but is there a _significant_ benefit to menopausal women in terms of gaining muscle when they take creatine? Also, I’ve heard that it definitely helps build bone is post menopausal women. I’m so thankful that I can research supplements myself and not have to run them by a medical team that isn’t knowledgeable or doesn’t have my best interest in mind, but I understand why you have to say that so many times! 😅 Thanks for the info!

I've gained 6 pounds in 3 weeks from taking creatine! Avg of 2.5 to 3g per day. I'll need to come off. I can't see the numbers rising like this. It's horrible. 6 pounds isn't slight. I'm on OMAD and eat mostly protein and fat. Carbs on the weekend. I'm not overeating.

If you aren't in a calorie surplus, the weight is unlikely to be from fat and most likely to be from water. It will usually settle out. If you're in a weight class sport, seeing the scale go up could be more of a concern, but if not, again, this is unlikely to be from fat mass increase unless there's a surplus of calories. Highly recommend checking out this meta-analysis: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33467377/

I appreciate your attitude. Quick question: what’s the rationale behind the raised heel squats?
@StephGaudreauTV
@StephGaudreauTV 10 ай бұрын
Hi there! Thanks :) Two use cases: 1) can help as an assist when ankle mobility is a limiter in the squat and 2) can bias a squat even more toward the quads (ex: cyclist squats)

great podcast. Am I correct in thinking that you need to take more than 3 grams per day for cognitive/mood benefits?? Thank you for the great podcast.
@StephGaudreauTV

The research being conducted in this area often uses more than 3 g / day as part of the protocol. Ex: this review paper summarizes several cognitive studies conducted and in table 1, you can see the dosages used: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33557850/

I really appreciate this information! 🤗 I just started taking creatine, and like you said there is a ridiculously large amount of information /research done on it. So having it narrowed in on the benefits/research for women was extremely helpful. Thank you again...😊

Thank you for the inspiration. At 62 I had not run since public school when we did cross country running. I started again about 2 years ago doing run walk split. Was sidelined due to an injury. Healed from that and same injury again. Stopped again until today. Got back out there , and I find running so freeing. Going to start slow all over again. 🌱💚🇨🇦. I also do calisthenics mixed with some free weights and resistance bands at home. I have a bike trainer that will come in handy during the winter months when it is too slippery to run outside.
