Junior SIPPs are also an option to complement Junior ISAs, although they are only for the very long term. You can contribute £2,880 per year - which HMRC will then gross up to £3,600 to reflect basic rate Income Tax. Upon their 18th birthday, it will essentially transfer into a normal SIPP controlled by the child. However, normal pension rules will apply so they typically won't be able to withdraw the funds until retirement.

Given the buildup I thought you might say LGEN 😄. I'm similar although my portfolio is smaller. £140.40 of divs in June which is a new personal best. LGEN was top of my payment list too. £67.30 from 460 shares. 30 more added when it went down to 225p. I've been building up O (and VICI) while REITs have been out of favour too. 62 shares of O, £10.50 in June. Best performers: PLTR +190% (not added to for a while), VUSA & AV + 20%. Worst Performers: ALB -50%, DGE -25%. Fortunately both are small positions and have been good lessons in doing better research. If it isn't an earning experience, make sure it becomes a learning experience.

The thing I look when choosing a platform is it's reporting facilities. For instance, around October and March, I need to know what interest, dividends and capital gains have been made so far in that tax year. This is so I can make best use of the HMG tax allowances for that tax year and adjust the portfolio or sell some shares accordingly (B&B or B&ISA). This is often a real pain on some platforms and usually involves a lot of manual Excel work. All platforms should have an instant 'generate current tax report' button which takes into account the 0day, 30day and +30day CGT rules. Next, I want a comparison feature - i.e. show a table and chart of all my current investments performance in %age gain (inc dividends) and be able to add in any other ticker to compare its performance.
