I really enjoyed watching this video and listening to this really interesting conversation with Zusha Goldin. I like the various topics and videos that are posted in this channel. Thank you for sharing, Allison!

You explained everything well and this is a cool video. I wear wigs too (for different reasons). The only thing that confuses me is why hair is considered private only after marriage. Other parts of the body like breasts, your lower regions etc are always private and are covered up even in childhood. But hair becomes this private thing only if you are married.

Thanks. Before Jews are married, we are not sexually active. We don’t touch before marriage according to Jewish law. So in getting married, a woman taps into a new part of her identity. Hair is not sexual but it is sensual. And this sensual part of herself becomes something sacred to only share with her husband.

I like to think that love is far more powerful than hate. I, even though I am not Jewish, have a lot of love and admiration for your beautiful religion. ❤ I love your channel and have been watching for many years. All the best to you Allison, and your family

Oh, I’m so sad this video even exists…. I’m an Australian Catholic, and I love my Jewish brothers and sisters so much. I am praying for your safety x “Those who hate me without reason outnumber the hairs of my head; many are my enemies without cause, those who seek to destroy me. I am forced to restore what I did not steal” (Psalms 69)

I grew up near Edgeware, London, UK.. which has a massive diversity of all religions.. love the place just for that !! Loads of Greek friends too.. awesome !!

I am starting to write my memoir and doing research to further understand my parents, in particular my mom, and the ways I was impacted by the trauma she experienced as a result of the war. Thank you Jasmin for giving me language to express things I have wondered about and sensed, and now being able to put into words.

8min36second into the interview and I have questions. She kinda races over the geographical location of her non-jewish ancestry. Considering that she mentions her grandmother being adopted by a black family, it is quite unlikely that she was raised in the Netherlands. Her mentioning of South American roots and her father being black and chinese hint at a Surinamese background. Considering that Suriname has a rich Jewish history that also intersects with parts of black surinamese culture, I am somewhat suprised at the cultural disconnect i see so far in this interview. I hope I am wrong. I have 24 minutes more to listen to.

My husband's ancestor was David Sassoon, who went to India from Baghdad in the 1700s and became wealthy trading in cotton. He didn't keep the wealth to himself, he endowed several hospitals, schools and orphanages in Mumbai as well as an entire port which is still called the Sassoon Docks. One of my sons visited the Sassoon hospital in Mumbai, which is now an orphanage, and they have a bust of David Sassoon in their entrance hall. Many countries in Europe have traditionally done their best to forget the contributions Jews have made and it is much to the credit of India that they have not.
Rest in peace Tzadik! May your Neshama have an Aliya! (just hears he passed away a few days ago in Israel)

As David Badiel points out so well but describes incorrectly : antisemitism is NOT racism because the first and the latter are on polar opposites. Racism comes from a feeling of superiority over a certain population of people. Antisemitism, on the other hand, stems from a deep-rooted inferiority complex. Most people are naturally and inherently antisemitic and moreover, they mostly don't even know quite why they don't like jews.

Great work Allison, alas Columbia is now a cesspool of Anti-Semetism. The neo-Hitler Youth Movement have swapped their Brown Shirts & Daggers for that Black & White Rag around their necks. While Columbia University still has a Muslim as President ......... nothing will change.
