Wow seriously! I am so glad I found this. Even though I use blender a lot, I was still doing this with Sketchup Match Photo tool. It is not t even comparable with this advanced tool. And the tutorial is just perfect! Great job!

Thanks to this I've been able to use fSpy on pictures of complex parts on a plain background. There are no parallel lines to speak of, so you have to draw between aspects of the part you know to be parallel (i.e. mirrored about one of the axes) using the single vanishing point method. Very happy with the accuracy of the outcome, and it makes non-orthogonal reference photos more useable e.g. for CAD even.

Totally agree, this is the best fSpy video around. No click bait cards, no youtube voice, no obnoxious music. Just pure awesome information. Thank you.

Some camera show slight/more barrel distorion or fish eye effect as well. Is there any fix for that, apart from fspy as well, even we dont know any idea about their camera model number because thosa are smartphone images. 18:45 If we close fspy even saved the file, all the work is gone which feels bullshit, what is the meaning of saving a file if can't be opened again...😢 29:06 here i split my view two part and use one for viewing and another for modelling to first trace outline in top or front view and then make adjustment in 3d. Also, i will recommend enabling extra mesh objects addon so you can add single vertex anywhere to start extruding anyway you want. Adding plane each time and adjusting it is highly time consuming. 31:17 you just use Shift+RMB to move cursor and if you hold Ctrl also then it will snap as well. Also, goto keymap and search "set 3d cursor" here expand the keymap and set the option to "surface project" default is "view" that way your cursor will always placed on the normal of the surface and you can use it to add objects at inclined angle (remember to change orientation from "world" to "3d cursor". Another idea coming to my mind is to use krita perspective grid feature to find guiding lines and focal point quickly. 14:35, what if the image is cropped all side ? Also if the image is extended by generative fill then maybe vanishing line gets incorrect.

I'm trying to understand the Principal Point better and how it affects Camera Matching... Is it always on the Horizon Line or is that just a coincidence at 7:40?

bruh the best tutorial on fspy i can ever find like he explained it so good that i dont have to look for tutorials every time i open fspy instead i can do it on my own now. infact last time i used fspy i made it so that the dimensions were right but when i brought that into blender i couldnt do it like i was very confused, but this guy even showed how to model after bringing it in........ lovely tutorial

Can you give me the purpose of this?

had the same frustration the other week, had to model an object from phone snapshots, no metadata no nothing, did a lot of trial and error, took me the better part of a day to tweak the images and got frustrated when the corner z axis did not match. wish I had found this video sooner, I am pinning it, watching it again an again, saving it to my playlist... YOU MY FRIEND ARE A GENIOUS!!!

sorry but being a beginner, i did not understand the purpose for all that work? was it to make a 3d copy of the environment in order to make the objects interact with a 3d character?

question now how to apply the materials and textures to the model from the picture? still new to this but this is where i get confused

I liked your tutorial just confused with one thing. When analyzing our image we place ines for axes, they should be according to the image's x y and z or global. Global ones would always b parallel right.?
