I've been fascinated with tarp shelters lately. Bought an Arcturis 8.5' x 12' to play with this year. Also bought a kids blanket fort frame kit. Don't plan on using the tubes but do plan on using the connectors. This kit is like tinker toys. Except the connectors are ball shaped with lots of angled holes. Going to look for the longest dowels I can find and then customize them for the tarp configs I want. I'm starting with a pyramid configuration, but with a DD Hammocks 4m x 4m tarp. in camo. Too cold at the moment, but will try this year! I just got the DD tarp! It's amazing! Can't wait to play with that and the Camo tarp!

Great video When I first heard about Bigfoot maybe four or five years ago, I thought there was just one Bigfoot. But now as the years have passed by there must be several according to what I see on KZfaq.

The one you have there works pretty darn good. I ordered the dead cat just received it today and I'm sure it's going to work just fine. I also have the H4n Zoom. I have a homemade furry I was using on my eight friend zoom and it also works fine. But I saw the one by MOVO and for 20 bucks I figured I'd go for it. Perhaps I'll test it tomorrow or this evening or whenever we have a decent wind. But like I say I'm sure it will work just fine. The one you're testing there to me is superb. Best way to clean up terminals with that level of oxidised copper on them is to soak them in coke (the soda) for about 5 minutes. The specific acid used in cola disolves that stuff but good.

Vac-Sealing cheese is actually more popular than waxing. I'm new at cheese-making (3rd month) and and I've been doing it from the start. I found out about it from Gavin Webber on You Tube and he's been doing it for years. Vac-sealing allows you to keep an eye on the cheeses during the aging whereas Waxing prevents this. I don't know about not refrigerating it though, especially during the initial aging process where the cheese needs to be at a specific temp (45F-55F) for 2mo-1yr. After the cheese has aged then maybe it can be stored outside of a fridge, however, I still believe it needs to be stored in a dark cool place.

Thanks for the comment. It's a new process for me. I will go check out Gavin's video.

Excellent information! One problem with looking up too much is that in the forest with all the dead branches and rocks, I have tripped and fallen several times. I don’t like falling, so I watch my feet but I look up too, just not as much as would probably be good. Can’t wait for you to get back here and take a walk with me in my little forest backyard! I would love to show you signs that people have camped here many years ago. I love to try to figure out what animals have made the tracks and scat that I see. It’s fascinating!
@LaVonneEllis2 жыл бұрын
Great stuff, thanks! I do have some questions because I walk in the forest with my dog twice a day and I need to know what I should carry with me. I always have my phone in case I fall or something and need help, but that’s it. Do I need to carry a backpack, water, first aid and all the stuff you need on a full day hike when I’m just walking for 20 minutes to half an hour?
@dancordray86862 жыл бұрын
Not all the stuff for a full day or overnighter. However, what happens when a 20 minute walk turns into 1 or 3 hour adventure? Something as simple as a twisted ankle can really ruin a simple little walk.

Great video, Dan! A couple questions about your bags: do you find the quality of the off-brand bags inferior to the FoodSaver brand? Secondly, I’ve noticed with my sealer (FoodSaver also) that when I seal anything that is “gritty” for lack of a better term, such as rice or instant potatoes, that I’ll sometimes lose the seal after a few months. As a result, I’ve gotten into the habit of double sealing mine, like resealing maybe 1/4” away from my first seal to eliminate that issue. Have you and Brenda ever had that happen?
@dancordray86862 жыл бұрын
First thanks. I've found the quality can go either way. I've found bags that were thicker and better embossed. The embossing helps with drawing a vacuum. The last batch I bought in not real happy with. As for things getting in the seal and causing leaking over time I sometimes put things in the cheapest fold-lock top bags and put it on the seal bag with the open end down. BTW I vacuum seal bandaging materials. The seal bags provide waterproof protection that the paper wrappers don't. AND the added benefit is it shrinks down the size and allows more to be packed. Stay safe my friend.
@dancordray86862 жыл бұрын
Yes, I also do a second seal. If the product is wet, I'll seal them wipe the plastic dry before second seal.

Those are neat in my opinion. Check the back side where the fuel tubes turn to the front. There should be a removable cap on each tube. Behind that cap is a brush looking screen inside the tube. Check that it is there and not rusted away. It's my understanding this is both filter and flash suppressor. It prevents a flash back to the tank. There are many resources on the Internet for these stoves. And yes, they will even burn cheap cologne. 😉🤣

Okay this is awesome. Best Prius setup ever. I like how organized and non messy it is. The light switch is a really smart idea. I was wondering why he kept the privacy cover as well a great idea I was going to throw mine out hahaha. I was also going to take out the full back seat and the passenger seat but I like his idea of leaving the 40% seat I think I'll do that too. I'm going to do his setup almost exactly. Would like a lot more detail.

You never showed us the bottom of the biscuits. Rocket stoves put out considerably more heat than any propane stove. Items in the Coleman oven tend to burn on the bottom frequently.
@dancordray86863 жыл бұрын
Sorry about that, they were typical brown on bottom as I remember. You're right the rocket stove dies have a small diameter burn chamber. However, the Coleman oven has a heat diffuser since it is by design meant to sit on a burner. This coupled with the relatively cooler fire it worked well.
