I find having a stethoscope to listen for guts sounds is super helpful. Also it can be used to measure the pulse.

So an Ambulatory Veterinarian is just a vet that goes to the patients and does their work and if they are also a private practitioner they can choose to work alone? So their own boss and a vet that travels to the patients?
@shammydammy26107 жыл бұрын
Yes. Our last vet for our horses was a private practitioner (she had a single partner in her practice) and came to our place to care for our horses. It's often easier and less stressful on the horse if the vet comes to them...as long no major diagnostic tests are needed.

I really want to be an Equine Veterinarian, I just think I would start to freak out when a horse starts to stomp its feet. Do you have any advice for me, or another type of Veterinarian I might be interested in? Thanks a bunch!

Horses don't usually stomp so I don't think you have to worry too much. But if it does happen, just stay calm and carry on. :) I want to do the same thing as well and I'm only a couple years away from college so I can start this passion of mine. I'm so excited due to my love for horses! :D

If it's possible where you live/with your schedule, see if you can get some experience handling horses... maybe a job/volunteer at a stable as a groom. Or if there's a horse rescue group you could work with.

This video has teared me up, it is so inspirational to see this generation of young people involve their life into the Equid species. Praise the lord.
