You say that Collings is voicing the guitars a little differently with the Builders Choice series. How so?

Are you using D'Addario Nickel or Phosphor Bronze 11-52s?
@MassStreetMusicАй бұрын
We're using the original strings that Waterloo recommends, D'Addario EJ26 (.011"-.052"). Thanks!

What kind of strings do you use on that 00-28?- I have a 1958 0- 18 and my strings are kind of buzzy. I am using Martin Light Bronze. Any recommendations. I play and teach music every day. Performed for over 60 years. But I can no longer find strings.

Love this guitar. I'm looking for a Depression Era-style small body, for fingerpicking and blues. I am in love with the Waterloo Wl-14 but it's almost impossible to find one. I considered Atkin, and of course L-00. Don't like the Ceo-7. This could be a great option. But in Italy, where I live, no-one sells it. It's not cheap at all, so I wouldn't want to buy it "blind".

Sadly, after this much time, I still can’t get over that headstock! Amazing sounding guitar. Wonder if you could order it with a blank headstock?
@BlueBeeMCMLXI4 ай бұрын
It is harking back to the stencilled guitar art of course of the 1930s etc. It looks so cheap and crappy.

Please play some finger style stuff when reviewing guitars. Not everyone is a dedicated flat picker. Thanks!
@BobK52 ай бұрын
It’s not really a finger style guitar although you could, it’s not what it’s built for
@cognoscenticycles43512 ай бұрын
@@BobK5 Traditionally it is not really a fingerstyle guitar, yet many excellent fingerstyle players have used a dreadnought over the years. Everyone from Joni Mitchel with her 1956 Martin D-18 to Jimmy Page with his Martin dread to Bert Jansch as well as Bruce Coburn who started on a D-18 and is currently playing a Collings dreadnought, to players like Micheal Hedges who also played one. The list is actually quite long as there are many other world class fingerstyle players who use a dreadnought. I would also be one of those guys! I played smaller body acoustic guitars for decades and I bought two Collings Traditional dreadnoughts last year and they are absolutely amazing sounding guitars for my fingerstyle compositions.

You can't go wrong with one of these. But good luck finding one! All Waterloos are virtually out of production at this time; Collings is making one guitar per month just to keep the name going, but they currently don't have enough builders (after COVID) to fulfill both Collings and Waterloo orders, and so are focusing on their main brand for now...

Curious that it doesn't feature the string pegs that traditional rosewood models normally have (off white). Is that a builder's choice thing?
@joemunzer8 ай бұрын
No. Collings come standard with Ebony pins.
