AT 15:42 lower inner F/R bushes...... I noticed u fitted 2x standard bushing. V8 engines and RTS radial tuned suspensions place huge loads on these . Holden fitted a H/duty bush in the front position . The bush has double thick inner steel tube . At least available from Mackay Rubber . Bewarned some Kelpro bushings are 3mm short .

@td42dirtygq Thanks for the kick up the backside to get myself organised. To be honest I've been trying to sort a decent set of axles. Most have grooves from dirt damage. That's my suspicion of the cause of the leaks anyway.

@debbiewright2171 Aluminium tray that's easily lifted by 2 people, actually quite light. Traction is definitely sometimes optional hahaha but with 335 circuit racing compound tyres on the rear combined with the caltrack suspension system the tonner puts it down pretty well when needed

My son's VT series 1 has some sort of noise in the top of the motor on the driver side. He thought it was a big ends but it's definitely coming from the top of the motor. He hasn't owned the car along I checked the wheel it's like way past the full line on a dipstick. I think it's just a standard 304 no work don't do it. It's like a quiet knocking noise when you put it back into park. But I took it for a drive the other morning and it was ticking away for half the journey and then when I've got back I'll put in the park I'm going to hear this quiet knocking sound. Any ideas? Are you in Brisbane or close to it? Cheers Graham

Did the rb30 fit in with 260 crosmrmber or you swap it to rb30 crosmrmber and power steering etc...
@nexgenrevamp29768 ай бұрын
@harrish1978 As the rb30 only came in a commodore or the r31 skyline those cross members do not fit in the datsun. The rb30 using mostly a front drop sump requires the sump to be changed to rear drop to fit into the datsun. There was a very rare factory version of the datsun that used an rb engine but like I say very rare. It comes down to modifying sumps or custom made sumps to be honest. We will have a video out soon on finalising the engine location including the sump in the 260z. As for powersteer, I'm not sure if a 260z ever came with powersteer from factory, so I'm not sure if it's a different cross member used from factory to accommodate that steering.

You might want to check with the RTA whether it's legal to put a Chev in a HZ. There used to be a rule if you put a Chev in a HZ it had to solely run on LPG, HQ HJ not a problem. The rule may have changed but not to my knowledge.

@rayvreman2002 Yeah mate from what we are aware you are probably right. Guess it might be one of those things we cross when we get to it. First though we are aiming at making the rest of the ute safe to drive around on the factory six cylinder.

@nexgenrevamp29769 ай бұрын
@poydapoyderson646 Thanks for the support and yes trying not to push things too hard. Don't think we have a project coming up that needs a spring change without the engine installed (will keep it in mind). In the mean time look up in internal spring compressors, they make one that goes down through the top shock hole and grabs the spring from the inside. Hope that helps

That’s why Holden cast blocks specifically for roller cams. The lifter bores are cast much taller in a roller block to reduce the aggressive lateral movements of a roller lifter. By using such a huge solid roller cam and lifters in a non roller block, such as this one, you’re just asking for trouble. You can now get much shorter roller lifters now which aren’t much taller than the original lifters, with tie-bars , from Crane ( I think it is ) to use in non roller blocks which greatly reduces the sideways movement and I’m pretty sure you can use the standard length pushrods with them as well.
@nexgenrevamp297611 ай бұрын
@jasonnielsen2125 Thanks for the info, interesting stuff. Unfortunately we were surprised to see a non roller block when we disassembled and just have to go with what we have. Hopefully with a well set up valve/rocker geometry and the correct length push rod we can eliminate as much unwanted side loads as possible. Will definitely keep those lifters in mind cheers
@jasonnielsen212511 ай бұрын
@@nexgenrevamp2976 I would seriously look into those shorter roller lifters though, I’m going to use them in a future project but it’s not going to be for quite a while yet.
@nexgenrevamp297611 ай бұрын
Definitely going to discuss them with my cylinder guy while we are spewing a solution to our terrible geometry. We've still a ways to go yet before assembly

@nexgenrevamp297611 ай бұрын
@albypapa3513 Thanks, glad people get some tips out of our videos. Connecting an msd to a bosch dizzy pickup can be quite straight forward if using a new msd ignition module kit. The kit comes with a small adapter harness, it has green and purple wires with the square msd plug one end and male blade connectors the other. Those male connectors are different size and match to different sized female connectors on the bosch pick up wiring. From memory it should show this in the booklet. Let me know if you need any further help.

What happened to this series did the car ever get finished
@nexgenrevamp2976 Жыл бұрын
@aaroncory2404 Thanks for the interest in the build. We have mentioned this in this year's update video. Realistically the short story is mostly funds allocation, the stage that the car is up to (final body prep and paint) costs a lot of money. With trying to sort out and finish the vx commodore and 1 tonner builds along with other life expenses it has been stored for the short term. Hope is not lost though as a build direction adjustment should see the sedan back in the near future.

@lukemaloney1170 Жыл бұрын
@@nexgenrevamp2976 you are right, the charger is a better platform for a barra. They still handle like shit tho so it would need some serious suspension re-engineering.
@nexgenrevamp2976 Жыл бұрын
@Lukemaloney1170 Pretty much gave the reasoning youself as to why an engine swap in that type of vechile could be more work than its worth. At an entry level for most racing the K.I.S.S theory works well. Where in drag racing a high powered engine swap may be beneficial and high on the want list. In any racing where corning is involved, handling and braking setup may be higher on the to do list than high horse power, at least when starting out.
