This video was what inspired me to get off my ass and put together a car for KOH. I’ve now raced 2 times in 4600 and am now going back with a 4400 car. Thank you, I’m sure I’m not the only one that was inspired by this video.

Go to the Rubicon for the crowds and the challenge of being able to say you did it. Go to the Dusy to get away from the crowds and to be able to say you survived. Both are great in their own way. Me, I'll take the solitude.

DTR is no longer as of 2019. We finished our first race in 2016 and then chased the finish line for the next few years.

John Grounds good people.
@robbukacek86292 жыл бұрын
John is a good friend. When he relocated to CA from FL, his first trail run in CA was with us. He broke a front axle shaft on the gatekeeper of the John Bull trail in Big Bear, CA and still ran the entire trail without so much as a tug. Pretty sure that's when he caught the rock crawling bug. We all had a good time with lots of friendly competition between us.

Second time watching this .. great movie, so on the rear you basically cut the original chassis frame off behind the cockpit and replaced it with all DOM tubing?

Front and rear were chopped off and tube frame added.

I’m curious what Axial supplied?
@ectosports3 жыл бұрын
The details of the sponsorship cannot be disclosed haha. But they had a pretty big part in getting us into the race.
@chrisstrobel34393 жыл бұрын
ectosports I wish they would sponsor a serious RC race there sometime during the week there in KOJ JV.

@@chrisstrobel3439 maybe this year. Watch for detials coming.

ectosports Ahh cool! Actually I think they should do the whole 165 mile, etc. course in Ultra 4 RC’s, that would require the fitness of ultra elite endurance runners and athletes .. which would pretty much rule out anybody I’ve ever known in the 1:1 crawling world 😬 Would make for quite the show as you tune in week after week to see their progress 😬 lol. Anyway assuming Biden doesn’t shut down America next year for Covid .. I look forward to going to 2021 KOH as a 1:1 spectator, and RC enthusiast, and wish you the best 👍

You gotta have a support on back of your transfer case, it will save your studs.
@georgefales79644 жыл бұрын
You should of just sold the trail rig and bought a cheep base model tj. You wasted a rubicon and used nothing from old rig. Build and learn I guess
@ectosports3 жыл бұрын
It was not much of a Rubicon to begin with. The original axles were already upgraded 44's but we knew the rig needed 60's. So the old axles were sold.

@@rbukacek idk man it seems shady... especially the way that was edited... must be the worlds best insta flat then lol what brand was the tire patch you should do a brand deal haha cool video none the less
@rbukacek4 жыл бұрын
Jason Mejia They were tire plugs. Sidewalk had a gash in it from hitting a rock. It’s not uncommon at all to use a handful of plugs to seal a sidewall tear. You can believe it or not. Makes no difference to me.

@@spacejaysun hahaha... Since I am the one that plugged the tire, I can raise my hand and swear. If there was ever an opportunity to endorse a plug company this would be the best. It took seven plus to fill the hole and hold air. I had no faith it was going to work but it did.

What a great story! I have almost the same one. I didn’t exactly tear it apart that day to enter KOH first thing, just started with dirt Riot, Ultra 4’s tiny baby brother. But you motivate me to keep working up. I’ll be out to watch the race in 20, who knows maybe 21 will be my entry year. Congratulations to you guys not only going for your dream but finishing and placing as high as you did. Super strong

What was your power plant cam and gears?
@rbukacek4 жыл бұрын
The Catalyst It was stock 5.3l from a 2002 Silverado with a 4L60 trans. Magnaflow did our exhaust which is why it sounds so great. Gears were 5.38’s if I remember correctly. Honestly, it had barely enough power and I was amazed the motor lasted the race. The Turtle tipped the scales at over 5k lbs. Shes a pig. The reason we finished was because we had to go slow and run our own race.
